Diereses prevent diphthongs; support diacritics awareness

--

Hi. My name is Daniel.

I'm mostly active on Ask Different, where I'm now a moderatorâ—†, but I sometimes visit some other Stack Exchange sites (more to read than anything else).

I first got into computers in 1982, and learned to program on an Apple //+. Switched to Mac in 2003. I'm not a computer pro; it's just a hobby. I hope any of my questions or answers are helpful.

comment Yosemite install freezes on “Transfering your Information”
No. I cannot find a key combination (except the power key) that does anything.

comment How do I share sections from the notebook via e-mail in Microsoft OneNote for Mac?
You had two questions in here. This site works better when there is only one question per question. That way, it's easier for other people to find solutions if they have the same problem. I've edited out your second question, but feel free to ask it separately.

comment finer control of Preview anti-aliasing (font smoothing)?
My point is that we shouldn't have a bug tag, and this is one of the steps in the process of making it go away.

comment finer control of Preview anti-aliasing (font smoothing)?
Tags are for filtering. There are people who are interested in reading or not reading posts about Yosemite, so the Yosemite tag is helpful. No one is generically interested in bugs, or is an expert in all things bug-related, so it's not a helpful tag on the main site.

comment Apple for my needs
If you have specific questions about features or capabilities, we might be able to help you, but the general question of "what should I buy" is too broad for us to answer.

comment Apple Shellshock patch for 10.6?
Answers on Ask Different need to be more than just a link. It's okay to include a link, but please summarize or excerpt it in the answer. The idea is to make the answer stand alone.

The a Gold Master is pre-release software, and thus off-topic for this site.

comment MacBook Air mid 2011 - Handoff not supported
It's okay to include a link in your answer, but the content of the answer needs to stand alone in case the link breaks.

comment Finding number 968 on my bill
This question appears to be off-topic because it is about the phone company and not specific to Apple software or hardware.

comment How do I search Recent Calls on iPhone?
It would indeed be reasonable to assume that the default phone on an Apple page is an iPhone, but knowing the model and OS version helps people look for an answer, and also sometimes people post off-topic questions here. Similarly, you could be talking about searching for recent calls in Skype running on a Mac, or in some other program; it is better to specify, but yes, your defaults do make sense.

comment Is there any way to create a hard link in the finder?
I followed the patern that the Finder's "make alias" command uses. You can, of course, change the naming convention however you see fit.

comment Is this tool to crack the iPhone's PIN real?
Questions need to contain enough content to stand on their own without relying on external videos that might get taken down in the future.

Sorry, I have an iPad and forgot that turning off cellular data doesn't turn off the whole voice thing. Modifying my answer.
