Diereses prevent diphthongs; support diacritics awareness

--

Hi. My name is Daniel.

I'm mostly active on Ask Different, where I'm now a moderator◆, but I sometimes visit some other Stack Exchange sites (more to read than anything else).

I first got into computers in 1982, and learned to program on an Apple //+. Switched to Mac in 2003. I'm not a computer pro; it's just a hobby. I hope any of my questions or answers are helpful.

You're absolutely right that my answer is a workaround. It's also the only way I know to solve the problem.

comment How can I add Trash icon to the sidebar in Mac OS X Lion?
@dunxd In the title bar of a Finder window, next to the name of the folder, there is a small image of the folder's icon (this is not limited to the Finder; in many programs, you find a similar icon in the title bar of the window that refers to the file the window represents). This is the proxy icon. Dragging the proxy icon has the same effect of finding the icon for the folder (or file) in the Finder and dragging it somewhere.

Answers on Ask Different need to be more than just a link. It's okay to include a link, but please summarize or excerpt it in the answer. The idea is to make the answer stand alone.

comment How do I turn off push notifications without turning off notifications in iOS 6?
Answers on ask difference need to be more than just a link. The goal is for them to stand on their own, in case the link someday points to a site that no longer works.

Is this a question asked on behalf of end users or developers? The question itself is unclear, and if it's aimed at developers, it's off-topic here.

If you don't have permission to overwrite the target file, this will fail. If you really want to overwrite a target file, you can use sudo at the beginning of the command. But use with caution!

Cool. I just bought the current version on the Mac App store. This looks really promising.

comment Is it possible to use US English keyboard layout with dead keys in Mavericks similar to those from Windows and Linux?
Great. I couldn't tell if you had a real question or if you were ranting that Apple wasn't doing dead keys "right" according to your definition of dead keys. Now I see you're actually looking for something in particular, and not just saying "they're doing it wrong." +1

Where do you get your definition of what dead keys "really" are?

comment What are some good iPad apps for students?
Questions suitable for this site have concrete answers. "What app do you recommend to solve this particular problem?" is a single question with possible concrete answers. "What are some good apps for productivity?" is a great lead into a conversation, but not a concrete question for this site. The fact that your description of what you are looking for ends in "etc." and doesn't have a closed form is a good indicator that you are asking too broad a question. Your last comment is telling: this is supposed to be a question, not the start of a thread. That's why it's closed.
