comment After Mountain Lion reinstall, iPhoto and other apps won't work
Is your Mac under warranty, or under AppleCare coverage, and can you take it to an Apple Store or other authorized Apple repair facility and ask them to look at it?

Have you repaired permissions using Disk Utility?

comment Does iOS 6 or any other iOS OS have drivers or kernel modules for an HP printer?
No. You need to purchase a printer that is Apple AirPrint-compatible, or purchase a printer that provides an iOS app for printing from an iOS device. The Brother printer company, for instance, has such an app.

comment OS X suddenly becomes very slow
Are you sure you are running 10.8.4? That would be a developer-build of a version of OS X that has not been released to the public yet. Is this the case? I believe that we do not permit questions concerning developer builds of OS X on this site.

comment Is a Macbook pro not able to use dual screen on the integrated graphics card?
So that is it, then. It depends on whether your MacBook has the integrated Intel graphics processor on the motherboard, or whether it has a discrete nVidia or ATI graphics card. I have been telling people for years that the computer industry is trying to discard support for the ancient VGA specification, and everybody should avoid using it, but it has not died yet.

comment How can I rename multiple pictures simultaneously?
I always like to point out the option of using commercial utility apps with a nice GUI because many casual users find that using the Terminal or Automator is too difficult for some tasks. ABFR is an example of a refined product that is very flexible and works well. For many users, spending $20 is a better option than learning the complexities of rarely-used text commands. You can decide which you would rather use.

comment Preview does not save PDF form data
Well, then, you really have no problem! The IRS states that their PDFs are only compatible with Adobe Reader. They do not list compatibility with Apple Preview or any other PDF-manipulating software. So use Adobe Reader like the IRS instructs you to do.

Adobe Reader 11 is free. Why not download it and use it instead of Apple Preview?

comment Reducing Lion OS Footprint by removing unnecessary files/folders
Monolingual and other utilities can remove international language Input Methods; however, there is very little space to be gained by deleting them, only about 20MB.

Thanks. I filed a full bug report with Apple.

comment Duplicate entries in “Open With” menu in Finder even after rebuilding Launch Services
I have also checked to make sure that I only have one copy of each app in question. But a new duplicate entry gets added to the menu of certain applications each time I install a new update of a newer revision of the application. I'm concluding it's just an unresolved bug in OS X. It's annoying because I use the "Open With" contextual menu constantly in my workflow.

As I stated in my question, I have completely rebuilt Spotlight. That did not help.

comment Duplicate entries in “Open With” menu in Finder even after rebuilding Launch Services
Please reopen. The "exact duplicate" is a different situation with distinctly different symptoms, applying to OS X 10.6, and the solution proposed there does not help me in OS X 10.8.2. I have completely rebuilt the Launch Services database and it has no effect on this problem.

comment What is an SSD drive's negotiated link speed?
There is benchmark software available for measuring the speed of an SSD in your particular system. Perhaps you could do a Google search looking for benchmarks and comparisons of different models. itunes.apple.com/us/app/blackmagic-disk-speed-test/…

comment What is an SSD drive's negotiated link speed?
I do not believe that there is any optical disk drive in existence that can operate at a faster negotiated link speed than 1.5 Gigabit. I doubt that there is any drive that can actually reach that speed anyway. This is simply a limitation of the DVD and CD-ROM drive technology.

comment Dvorak keyboard layout with international character support?
You are correct, but I did not imply that this would work with ALL characters. The US layout is designed to work with the Western European languages. It cannot handle Turkish or Croatian or Vietnamese, for example. The Apple Macintosh Dvorak implementation is based on the Apple Macintosh US layout. If you need to type in a "non-Western" language, you need a different layout, and they are available.

comment Reducing Lion OS Footprint by removing unnecessary files/folders
I have used Monolingual only to remove international language files, not to remove "architecture" code. I have run Monolingual hundreds of times on my system for many years with never a single problem.

comment What is Mac OS X Lion's Finder Font?
That is a specific setting in your Web browser, be it Safari, Firefox, Chrome, etc. That has to do with the display of HTML and it is not a global system parameter in Mac OS X.
