Why doesn't the screen saver delay that I set persist after restarting my Mac? Do you have a laptop (i.e. a Mac with a battery), and, if so, is it possible you set the screensaver delay while plugged in and restarted unplugged? I believe Adapter Power and Battery Power have two separate settings for the screen saver delay... |

I am having trouble getting apache to work via terminal on mac os x 10.8.3 Also, have you had Apache working under OS X 10.8 Mountain Lion before? The method for activating the web server has changed since previous version of the OS. |

How do apps get loaded on iOS for free Since you've mentioned web apps, this doesn't answer the direct question but may be useful: Matt Might discusses how to create personal-use web-apps that can be served to your family's iPhones. |

iPod Nano 7th Generation - Lost Library When you mention the Cloud, do you mean that you have an iTunes Match subscription? Knowing that will help us diagnose the problem. |

How do I know which version of OS X I have? The OP is doing what you suggest. The About This Mac screen only shows the OS X version number, not its name. |

Change lockscreen date language iOS 6 Bizarre. When I tapped French in the Region Format listing, I was taken to a screen that lets you pick *sub-*regions, and that's where I chose Canada. Glad you got it sorted. :) |

MacPorts vs. Fink vs. Homebrew If I understand this correctly, recent changes to Homebrew may address the package-collision concerns. |

As a developer, do I need Mountain Lion? For end users, agreed. As advice to an aspiring developer, we often end up wanting or needing to stay close to the bleeding edge. :) |

Transfer RAM from MacBook Mid 2010 to MacBook Pro 2008 According to this Apple doc, the Early and Late 2008 MacBooks Pro took DDR2 RAM. Do you have a source that says they support DDR3? |

Mountain Lion clean install Agreed. Good answer, just not applicable to the Mac mentioned. It ought to be handy having the list of supported models alongside it as well. |

Mountain Lion clean install Unfortunately, according to this document, the MacBook Pro 5,5 (a Mid-2009 model) doesn't support Internet Recovery. |

Black Screen after installing RAM in MacBook (early 2008) It could be that, despite the technical specs for both laptops claiming support for PC2-5300 RAM, that the MacBook Pro can actually support PC2-6400 while the MacBook cannot. I've no idea if that's sensible, though. |

How can I reset the answers of the security questions of my Apple ID? This scenario very likely may have changed over time: when this happened to me recently, Apple Support sent a code to my iPhone, and had me generate and read back a code on the Apple ID site while signed in. This was apparently sufficient authentication for them to reset my questions, despite my not remembering any. |

Plug headphone not support with macmini From the OP's comment, I suspect he's got a headset with separate jacks for the headphones and the mic, and is trying to plug the mic jack into the mini's audio line-in, which probably won't work, or will at least require him to use line-in and not microphone as his audio source... |

How can I “clean out” my Time Machine backups if Time Machine won't backup because the disk is full? Note: the "Delete Backup" option appears in the Finder window within the Time Machine interface itself (the "space"-like interface that appears when you select Enter Time Machine). Hence it not being available to use with an inactive TM folder. Good call on tmutil. |

Can I use TimeMachine only when on wired connection? Given that solutions to this may be fairly convoluted, it's worth drilling down to the underlying question: why is it necessary to prevent the Mac from backing up over WiFi? |
