comment Can I use Back To My Mac's mDNS address and for ssh and other routing of traffic?
What if the computer name has spaces? That seems to muck everything up D:

comment Activity Monitor confusion
Try opening the applications in reverse order (i.e. open ActiveWindowCapture before ScreenCapture) and see if the opposite effect occurs. I think it has something to do with there being a single java process to "rule them all."

comment Migrate from OS X 10.9 back to 10.8.5
There's an issue here beyond Mavericks that you should investigate. It's likely easier to do then a whole reinstall

Perhaps you just made a typo, like with "ICLOUD", "incorrenc", and "error".

comment Make Activity Monitor show more than 4 cores worth of CPU usage in the Dock
Lol those dock graphs are border line boolean "CPU FULL THROTTLE" vs CPU idle, there's not much resolution :p

You'd be surprised how rugged it is. I do light work in PS and Illustrator and haven't had any issues in the year or so that I've been doing it.

comment MacBook Pro slows down from pressure on the bottom (messy solution included)
Uhhh andrey... Aluminum is highly conductive... (many houses use Al wiring). Try using a paper sheet to cover the entirety of the motherboard's contact with the back cover. PS. I doubt the coin is Aluminum, few countries have Aluminum coinage.

comment MacBook Pro slows down from pressure on the bottom (messy solution included)
I would try putting a sheet of paper (or other insulator) between the motherboard and the metal backing to check if it's perhaps a short-circuiting issue

comment Upgrade from non-server to server?
The "server" component of OS X is an application installed on an existing system. In 99% of cases consumers don't need OS X server, so look into exactly what your needs are and check out if OS X server has anything that meets those needs. Chances are, it won't, it's mainly focused on corporate infrastructure like wikis, contact/calendar/mail syncing, etc.

I'm quite sure Apple's lawyers have bigger fish to fry.

comment How do I tell OS X to always mirror displays when I plug them in?
I'm aware but it's a valid question nonetheless. You don't have to solve a problem that might not exist.

comment How do I tell OS X to always mirror displays when I plug them in?
Why not just use extended mode? You benefit from the extra screen space, and the resolution would be more appropriate for each monitor

comment QuickTime Player Green Screen
Try using a third party screen recorder. Unfortunately, although Quick Time is nicely integrated and really simple, it's screen recording feature is a MAJOR resource hog. Screen flow makes a higher detail recording using 15% of my CPU than QT can make with 90% utilization.

comment SSD and Mountain Lion
Hmm it appears to be a disabled feature for SSDs, probably because the OS assumes TRIM is active so it isn't needed. diskutil secureErase freespace 3 /Volumes/[name-of-drive] shouldn't fail you though
