I am a dedicated Christian who loves Macs. I've been homeschooled all my life and currently trying to finish up my junior year of high school. I enjoy just about anything that has to do with computers. I AppleScript and shell script a little bit.
I am currently a LAMP programmer with Inventaweb.net.
I have also been editing video for almost 8 years (yes, since I was 9). I started with iMovie HD and have since then worked my way up to Final Cut Pro 9 and Final Cut Studio. I co-founded a film company called OffBlock Films. We do work in the Central Valley and have a vision of producing a feature length film at an unknown point in the future.
You can find me on my sometimes updated blog: The Geek Tech Blog, on Twitter and on App.net.

@JasonMusgrove Actually, I believe that's correct. Sorry I didn't have that originally!

comment Sound recorder for Mac OS X
@MacLemon Have you had that happen with Audacity recently? I've done recordings that lasted a very long time (over 2 hours) and I haven't had a problem. It was a bit slow to save, but that's to be expected.

Might I also point out that I already addressed that in my post, with a link to a specific tweak...

Are you trying to access the iPod from iTunes in OS X or iTunes on Windows? The question is a bit confusing, as you didn't specify which, but it seems like you're on OS X?

What I outlined above should work.

comment Changing Mac Folder Icon
There is mdls and xattr, which gets and sets file attributes respectively. However, when I did mdls on a file that had a custom icon, the attribute kMDItemFSHasCustomIcon returned null. How comfortable are you with Terminal commands?

comment Changing Mac Folder Icon
I'm pretty sure there's no .plist file for that. The information is stored directly in the file's metadata. You may be able to use an OpenMeta editor to edit it, but a cursory search didn't turn up anything useful. OpenMeta is an open standard, so theoretically it could work.

comment How do I turn off push notifications without turning off notifications in iOS 6?
Since the only notifications you'll be getting from Skype are from a server, this doesn't really matter. However, if Skype were to send local notifications (not from an APN server), this would be a problem. Basically, my solution should solve your exact need, but does not solve your need in a broad sense.

comment How do I turn off push notifications without turning off notifications in iOS 6?
Push notifications are sent "through a constantly open IP connection to forward notifications from the servers of third party applications to the Apple devices" Source. So, push notifications require Internet and a server behind it.

What's the difference between push notifications and just notifications? Skype only sends push notifications, right?

Answers that are just a link are discouraged because a link may disappear leaving oj long term value for users who may later read your answer.

comment (Jailbroken) iOS 7 stock apps missing on springboard
I'm sure there is, but if it gets that messed up, I would argue that you should restore. When I had that happen, I couldn't access any stock iOS apps (they didn't show up), nor could I use the camera (even 3rd party camera apps didn't work).

You really should just restore. That happened to me and that was all I could do.

Wow. Well, sadly the best thing to do is what you said you did, trash it.

comment Why do certain apps fill the background of Mission Control in Mavericks?
They're all Microsoft applications? ;) I have that problem too, and (just out of speculation) I would say that they weren't built quite right for OS X and thus they have a weird bug that causes that.
