Real name: Christian Lercher

Started programming when I was 7 years old (Basic on C64, then Assembler, later C/C++, and now mostly Java).

First Windows experience: ca 1993 (Win 3.11)

First Unix experience: 1998 (Solaris, then SuSE Linux, now mostly Debian/Ubuntu and MacOS).

I'm just as much interested in technical things, as in social topics, and economics. It really depends.

comment How do I continue to use Time Machine backups after switching my hard disk?
I'm still on 10.6, but good to know how it will work the next time, after I upgrade my OS. Thanks!

@patrix: Contrary to the question you linked to, I did restore from a Time Machine backup.

Got my September backup now by connecting the old HD (which was not touched since making the last time machine backup). Restored it, but still the same problem.

I don't have the old backups from time machine anymore (I had to wipe my backup disk because of apple.stackexchange.com/q/66598/7501). So what I just tried is restoring from today's backup. No difference. Now I also resetted my settings on the iPhone (General > Reset > Reset All Settings). Still the same problem.

Very unconventional, but nice. Solves the problem, especially if I use a name that doesn't exist (so it doesn't send any unnecessary mails).
