I am a photographer based in Watford and have been taking pictures for over 20 years. My interest in photography stretches back to my schooldays, when a friend started demonstrating what he could do with his Praktica SLR. I soon got my own as a Christmas present, and have never looked back.

Closely linked to my technical background is my fascination with patterns, both natural and man-made, and I love creating photographs where the two interact. I am also keenly aware of colour and light, both in their presence and their absence, and the differences between how a camera sees the everyday world and how the human eye does.

As a photographer, the works I create can only ever be recordings of things already in existence or created by others; however by applying my eye for a detail here, or a pattern there, I hope to be able to show people the most common everyday object in a new light.

Update: it appears to be reinstalled every time I restart unfortunately, meaning the error message starts appearing again. I know this is probably another question, but if I do find a way to stop this happening I'll add more information to this answer

@Moto_Nomad thanks - that seems to be the issue; I've uninstalled the service and will wait to see what happens. If it works (i.e. I stop seeing the message above), I'll answer this question with the steps to take so people don't have to refer to another forum. Thanks!

I installed it by downloading and running the DMG version of the 'Mac OS X x64' link on this page: oracle.com/technetwork/java/javase/downloads/… and this was done after upgrading to Yosemite.

Clicking 'OK' just dismissed the dialog. The 'More Info…' button took me to the Java download page, from where I downloaded and installed the latest version. And, as you say, I am still seeing the message appear, seemingly at random.

Thanks - everything is up to date. I'm fastidious to the point of OCD about this :)
