comment Keyboard shortcut to prevent login items from loading but still allow extensions
since you're talking about the same "shift" key -- can you confirm, your method allows the "extensions" but locks out the "login items"? (seems that way, but wanted to confirm. Thanks!!)

In my opinion, World of Goo is one of the best video games in the last 10 years.

comment is the iPod Touch less able to connect to Airport WDS wifi network repeaters than an iPad? Kindle also doesn't want to!
OK, learned more and found a solution, which I've posted as "answer." By using this solution, I realize that in my case I am causing a lot of the traffic on my devices to go only through 802.11 b/g, which is sad to think that I am forgoing the benefits of N. but at least I'm getting connected on all my devices...

comment known iOS mail bug? The inbox skips over displaying hundreds of messages (IF inbox has >500 messages or so)
aha... my first guess would be that that choice of 'all inboxes' takes the number of emails over the same "too much" amount that is causing the bug for me. To me this is a big bug... I mean, a lot of us have folders or inboxes with more than 500-600 emails, right? I keep all old email, and I don't painstakingly subcategorize them. Hope this gets fixed!!

comment is the iPod Touch less able to connect to Airport WDS wifi network repeaters than an iPad? Kindle also doesn't want to!
HOWEVER, your experiment demonstrated something interesting. When I went over to ANOTHER of my satellite routers, it DID report that it saw the network (with an appropriate, strong signal) -- but this satellite that "worked" is in fact my OLD airport express, which is only a 802.11g, and not the nice newer 802.11n ones that are in the more important zones. Seems that somehow my iTouch is wanting to talk to "g" routers when using WDS?? Can I configure the newer Express satellites to have a mode friendlier to "g"-hungry clients? Thanks for this help! [you should post as 'answers,' not comments!]

Your advice above is sharp. However, I did those exact steps, and when it came to sitting next to a satellite and turning on wi-fi again, it still failed to "see" the satellite router. only when I wandered closer to the hub router would it report seeing my wireless net...

comment Apple Magic Trackpad issue: occasionally it interprets one-finger click as two-finger (“right”) click
FINAL STORY ON WHAT HAPPENED: As I wrote above, the apple dealer in thailand didn't want to simply replace my trackpad. When I flew to the USA I took it with me and the apple store there immediately just said "let's just trade it in for a new one." (it was still under warrantee.) Result: problem totally disappeared. So it seems it was simply in the hardware. after all that... thanks much.

comment What is the most effective way for a iPhoto user to have all photos synced and stored in the cloud for sharing?
Really appreciate this info. I will look.... Most likely at the Picasa option. But really hope apple creates a real cloud photo system ... If it's gonna wave its cloud flag, then do it whole hog. However, they have the funny challenge where, if they unveil it, they will be getting about 20 Petabytes pouring in within a month or something... Strange world when your product has the problem of being doomed to be immediately heavily used. Well actually, I exaggerate ... I forgot that pricing level would limit that. THANKS

Good info!! Kind of hilarious I didn't know these. You know, there are always a couple odd keyboard shortcuts that one does not yet know.

comment Apple Magic Trackpad issue: occasionally it interprets one-finger click as two-finger (“right”) click
nope, not wet. going to OS X Lion didn't help this. yech, still happening. Annoying that I can't simply get it exchanged... just because the problem is very intermittent therefore can't replicate it for the technician.

comment Apple Magic Trackpad issue: occasionally it interprets one-finger click as two-finger (“right”) click
nope... I don't have any "right click corners" because I don't have that chosen in the preferences. and I'm afraid this happens often even when fingers aren't wet, or "close to having mult. fingers touching, etc." I am wondering it is in fact when i do my perfectly legit drag gesture in a certain part of the trackpad. agg, it is annoying that I can't simply get an exchange on it just because it is very hard to replicate this very intermittent problem.

I have taken it to a dealer... after some days, they were apparently not able to replicate the problem. wonder if it is a hiccup with my laptop, my bluetooth universe, or something. we will see.

In any case, I'm sure the Lion expose-revamp is going to probably do all of the desired things plus make toast.

Nope, I was mentioning above that the behavior I was hoping for was different than the expose clear. BUT thanks!

huh! I hadn't done mouse mapping. I have to say, that is one hell of a mouse you are using. I have sort of converted to a touchpadder for now, but who knows. if I switch and want the mouse that can invade fort knox, I know where to find it! HMM, of course, part of its value is that mapping software. I wonder if the new OS X will really bowl one over with its gestures, which could maybe invoke a string like "switch to finder and then opt-cmd-H. anyway thanks!

thanks much -- yep, opt-command-H is the closest I have come. I would love it if the key command would have the same effect as "switching to finder and then opt-command-H." in other words -- wherever you were, you are now at finder with the decks cleared.

Your point (and screenshot) is excellent ... but in fact I have that checkbox off in my preferences! and it's not lower-right clicking. however, thanks, that was a good idea.

comment How can I implement AirPrint using any mac-served printer using this “DNS-SD” configuration?
I assume you mean printopia as the $20 app you are mentioning, which will make airprint work for me? That's the point that was made by an answerer below and both of you are totally right. thx!

Aha, great answer. thanks very much. Funny, I had heard about printopia in my various surfing for answers, but I hadn't gotten the message that it was indeed the one that worked well, as opposed to sketchily. I realized that one reason it was lower-profile in my research is because of its existence as something that runs on your mac, not as an app on the ipad (therefore I couldn't see reviews/stars on the ipad app store) and furthermore, it's not for sale on the MAC app store so no reviews or stars there. but, I have the info now. Thanks!
