I'm an IT director who passes some spare time helping people on SuperUser in order to help keep my skills up to snuff. Technologically, I am into F/OSS and networking. I dabble in Macs, and can answer the occasional windows question.

Personally, I like to spend time with my family, in particular teaching my kids how to cook, and teaching myself new cooking stuff. Right now I'm working on teaching myself to make Thai food.

Yeah I understand. Since we are enterprise developers, we aren't distributing via the app store, but we came up with a pretty simple work around.

In Xamarin Studio, it also shows up as deployment target. We have it set to 7.0 -- and it is the same deal. Changing the deployment target causes the MinimumOSVersion to change in Info.plist.

I do appreciate your taking the time to look. What I meant up there was that the Info.plist file was automatically generated by the development tool that we use. I didn't create the file manually.

The setting works perfectly. I am looking for a way for the setting to take effect earlier in the installation process. Based on the comment from @chillin up above, I would say that what I am looking to do is not possible without a bunch of extra work on my part.

That's interesting. I'm beginning to think that I need to keep hardware around with older iOSs on it. So once the app hits the springboard, if the user does not opt to install the last supported version, then the version that they had installed previously is toasted?

The IDE created Info.plist for me automatically. Not certain what I can do to make it otherwise, nor am I convinced that this actually addresses the issue at hand.

comment Keychain Access is empty
Thanks for this. I finally gave up, and just trashed my keychain and started from scratch. If it ever happens again I will definitely try this. If anyone can confirm that this works, then I will be happy to accept this answer.

comment How to safely charge your apple device at a charging station?
I was mostly curious about whether or not that charging bricking out take input and output at the same time. It seems to have worked -- I successfully charged by iPad one night using the brick that was also connected to the wall. So I think that this solution would fit the bill, even if it is somewhat convoluted.

Can you read the model number from the back of the device?

comment iOS7 won't trust linux computer
Can you clarify a couple of things? I'm assuming that the "Trust this computer?" message is being displayed on the iPad. What exactly are you hoping to accomplish? Is your iPad jail broken?

I think I might try it tonight and see if it works. I'll post back and let you know.

comment Transfer downloaded iOS7 installer to home computer
If you are upgrading from the same computer, then I think that iTunes should pick up on the fact that the download package is already there. Again, assuming that the phone models match up. I've never actually tried.
