Photographer, tech head, and extreme sport enthusiast.

I'm an amateur who likes to shoot everything from portraits to landscapes. My favorite venues are half way up a 14k mountain, Ontario in Fall, and the Mediterranean at sunset.

I love talking technology, new equipment, and Canon lenses.

comment Can I use an iPad on the beach safely?
Thanks all for the answers! My beach time with the iPad was a success! I did find that I had to be in shade to read text comfortably, which was fine because my skin was burned after the first day anyways. The zip-loc trick worked great for me when I was near the sand.

You were right on. I did end up reading a complete book while at the beach over vacation on the iPad. But, a few weeks later I decided to try the eink Kindle. It is a much much better device for reading books on the beach! I still love my iPad though!

comment What is covering my iPhone camera?
The piece in question is within the lens assembly. It is not externally accessible. I think the first picture best describes what I am wondering about. Cleaning the lens isn't going to make a piece inside the lens change. Like I said in the question, the camera itself is working. I took these images in a mirror with the iPhone I am asking about.

Killing apps does not increase battery life, you are misinformed. @richarddas goes into some more specific details too in another answer here.
