You wouldn't get a "message not delivered" error due to his phone being off, since the message is still going to his account (no different from how you can send an email regardless if the recipient's computer is on or off).

Also, try the opposite of @Allan's suggestion too – remove the Crucial RAM and see if the crashing stops. It's possible it isn't seated correctly.

Understood, but that doesn't seem to be the case here since I still have the problem with only the 5 GHz network enabled. Also, I've had this same router/setup for almost a year and had no issues like this until last month when I posted my question. Starting to wonder if the router itself is flaking out...

No, it's not – I disabled the 2.4 GHz network and I still have the same problem on the 5 GHz network (had to disconnect and reconnect to post this very comment).

I don't think this is it, because I have the same problem when I'm connected to the 5 GHz network too. It's not switching back and forth between the 2.4 GHz and the 5 GHz, it's just failing after a few minutes on either one. They're set up as two different networks with two different names, as I mentioned in my question.
