A computer science lecturer at University College London. I do stuff in logic, theorem proving, program analysis and verification. I'm a very enthusiastic TeX/LaTeX user, most days.

I also run a small site for LaTeX beginners in spanish: LaTeX Fácil.

That link is broken now. Any ideas of where to find a recent review of alternatives now?

Amazing, indeed perhaps the easiest solution to get the desired result!

@Phrogz, thanks for letting me know. Indeed, I've updated the link to point to the developer's site.

Very annoying! But apparently the only workable solution :S

comment What are some alternatives to Quicksilver?
Thanks for the update! Since I posted this question a couple of years ago I've gotten very used to and extremely pleased with Alfred. Anyway, I'll give the new QS a try for a couple of days and see if it can win me back :)

comment Alternative to iWeb?
@patrix it's for personal use, for myself, to build a basic (only a few pages, mostly static) website without having to fiddle with HTML/CSS or other stuff. What I would like to have are some nice looking existing designs/templates on which to start building and customising my site.

It would be nice to note that all of these are paid products.

@ShaneHsu Well, it works if you have a copy of it. Which I don't :) And now there seems to be no way of purchasing it, other than getting a two year old version of iLife.

Thanks, it's not ideal, but it works. You might want to post that as an answer. I'll be glad to accept it if nothing better comes up in the following couple of days.

Sure, but how can I select and copy, say, one year worth of events?

comment Can I get Mission Control to show minimized windows?
This is not working for me, when switching to Misson Control (no matter how), the TAB key seems to be inoperative. Maybe some setting that I've changed?

@bmike, you should probably turn your comment into an answer. I've tried that and it did work for me.

Thanks Jason. I only have to add that, at least for the document I needed to open, OpenOffice did work without any problems.

Unfortunately I can't ask someone to do this, I only have this old word document with no current maintainer. (And I don't want to always rely on an external person to open/convert documents for me.)

I see! It does work, so apparently some websites will work and some others wont?

I do have the "Reading List", but the "Reader" function doesn't seem to appear on my 3GS phone. Reader wont work there?

comment Subtitle editor for OSX?
Sorry, I did give it a second try, but the apparent lack of support of the player for utf8 and accented characters was a mayor hurdle for me.

comment Subtitle editor for OSX?
After some test drive of all the available options, I'm staying with this. The interface is decent, and it is easy not only to add subtitles, but also move them around and shift them a bit. Looking at the audio wave is also very useful to correctly put the subtitles in place. Not perfect, but definitely the most usable. Thanks!
