does BitTorrent Sync also sync symbolic links, so that they are usable on the different operating systems (in Finder/Windows Explorer)? That is my real question, I'm currently using Unison File Synchronizer for sync'ing

comment MacBook 13" white (mid 2007) - how to treat a new battery for optimal battery life?
thanks for your answer! Discharging the battery completely once per month like you describe sound quite difficult to me if I have to leave it for 5 hours. That would mean I would (a) have to waste energy by letting a process run over night which drains out the battery or (b) adapt my working time to the battery life by stopping working exactly the moment when the battery is empty. Or could I take the empty battery out of the Macbook for 5 hours and continue working with the MacBook on mains (without battery inside or with my old defective battery as a "dummy")?

comment Define additional shortkey with the same effect like RETURN in Safari.app
p.s. is there a way to find out, if that key-binding (e. g. ^m is already used/defined in other applications?

comment Define additional shortkey with the same effect like RETURN in Safari.app
Hi Rob! Thanks a lot! AppleScripts are relatively slow from my experience, so I'd prefer the key-binding solution. Thanks a lot for the very useful hint on "proper Cocoa apps"!! Question: how can I find out, if an application is "proper Cocoa"?

comment Define additional shortkey with the same effect like RETURN in Safari.app
Thanks! Well, I'd like to avoid paying 42$ just for changing a few keybindings, which (I'd assume) should also be possible with some "hacking", shouldn't it? Anyway, are you sure Keyboard Maestro would be able to create such a shortkey which has the same effect like RETURN in Safari?

comment Safari is using too much RAM. How can I reduce its memory footprint?
@glenstorey: I agree with Josh, as I've made the same experience: at least as soon as my available physical RAM goes down to <100 MB (of 3 GB in total) with OS 10.6.8, this has a massive impact on my computing experience: spinning beach ball for a long time, etc. ... And Safari seems to be THE application that really needs lots of RAM, especially for flash

comment Safari makes my MacBook incredibly slow - what to do?
in fact, after uninstalling the old ClickToPlugin 2.5.4, I did not have any extreme uses of RAM by Safari any more... I had installed the current ClickToPlugin 2.9.2, but have not activated it at the moment.
