I have been employed at The Jet Propulsion Laboratory (JPL) in Pasadena, California since January of 2002. I was hired shortly before I graduated from Cal Poly Pomona where I earned my BS in Computer Science. I first became interested in computers when I was just a little kid, and took my first programming course in 7th grade. There are many aspects about software engineering that interest me like code architecture, usability and design, database design/modeling, as well as project management. One of the rewarding, and fun, experiences I had over the years has been the opportunities to teach, which I am hoping to perform again some time. In 2009, I earned an MBA with an emphasis on Information Systems from the University of Redlands.

As far as my personal life goes, I have too many hobbies that my pocket book can't keep up with like Photography, Motorcycling, Cars, Gadgets, collecting and building LEGO, collecting Transformers (new and old).

comment Display hidden files hot key on Mavericks gone?
Thanks for the tip @markhunte. I didn't know about that workaround, and a good one too! Now I need to adjust my scripts so that it simply refreshes the view rather than killing Finder. Thanks again.

comment Display hidden files hot key on Mavericks gone?
@Cristian and Boyd, I just wanted to clarify something. Does this issue occur in any open/save dialog box, basically is it application independent, or does it occur in only a finite number of applications.

@Cristian: My machine is currently not experiencing the issue you are having, so it's hard to replicate/resolve the issue for me; however, hopefully I can help you isolate what may be causing it. Is the user account you are using on your machine set up as an Admin account? Also, when was the last time you performed a Repair Permissions on the computer?

That's odd that you have to click out and into the folder. Do you have to do that prior to or after you trigger the shortcut? In any case, for Finder to recognize the change, it has to be restarted, when that happens, I simply use the ⌘ + TAB key to get back to the Finder window if needed.

The ~/Sites folder was removed in Mountain Lion, but nothing saying you can't add it back yourself. Reference: digishock.ca/os/enable-the-sites-folder-for-mountain-lion

@Jade: If the thief doesn't have the password to get in, how are you going to track activity if wifi is not turned on?

comment Upgrade from Mountain Lion to Mavericks and my iMac got slower
Agree, I have Mavericks installed on my 2009 model 27" iMac and performance is fine. Yes it is slower than Mountain Lion, but that is expected to occur with newer software on older machines. Although I am very cautious about what I install to ensure it runs smooth.

comment iPhone 4S lock button
Although not trivial, many Apple devices can be repaired by viewing guides from ifixit.com, and they also sell the hardware and tools to perform repairs on many devices. Buttons for iPhones are available on ifixit. But i think i understand your point, repairable, no. Replaceable, yes.
