What's the advantage of buying an iMac over building a Hackintosh? It was cause for me to return the machine to exchange for an earlier one. I hope we didn't do that unnecessarily; but they (Apple) weren't able (willing?) to tell me how obtain or make a bootable device for further installs, and I wasn't willing to limit myself to that cumbersome, slow, and Apple-dependent procedure, should another re-install ever become necessary. |

What's the advantage of buying an iMac over building a Hackintosh? That's a lot more hopeful if it's so. I asked Apple T/S directly and the tech's answer was that you could only do that on earlier machines that had been upgraded from an earlier OS; that if the machine came with Lion pre-installed on it, re-installs could only be done over the net; and that yes, there's a re-install partition, but it's only able to do the net-download not a self-contained install. |

What's the advantage of buying an iMac over building a Hackintosh? If it's a Mac with Lion pre-installed, that's the only way to re-install and can not be done from local media, according to Apple T/S. On a 3Mb/s connection, that's a 6-hour download. Oh, the d/l failed? Start over again; 6 more hours. That's a pretty darned inconvenient install procedure. |

Calendars and Contacts Sync after iCloud transition Once the iCloud account is set up, iCal 4.0.4 in SL can sync your calendar with it as well. I haven't heard of any way to sync contacts yet. |

After a while, the trackpad or mouse requires me to click twice to be able to register a single click Watch the menu bar for a couple minutes (or however long after your last click, the next one is likely to fail), and see whether the focus changes. This sounds like the first click (that seems not to register) just changes focus to the target app. This is the same behavior you get anytime you click on an app (most apps, but not all...) when it doesn't have the focus. Maybe mumble is grabbing focus from you. |
