Definitely sounds like a hardware failure. The issue occurring after upgrading to Mavericks is probably just a coincidence.

comment My iPhone 4 has just stopped charging — what could be wrong with it?
In all possibility, your battery has died or the battery logic board is fried. Either way it is better to take it to the Apple store where they can run diagnostics and tell you the actual problem.

Why dont you try using the 1TB drive in place of the SSD just to confirm whether it is a port issue?

comment Disk I/O error on a superdrive?
It is possible that you might have damaged the connector end points (on the MB side) while removing or plugging in the connectors.

comment MacBook Pro Battery Problems
I really don't think Apple has licensed the Magsafe design to third party vendors. I remember a vendor (cant recall the name) of portable Macbook battery chargers who had to buy actual magsafe adapters and cut off their magnetic ends for use with their chargers!

comment How can I make in-app purchases with a different Apple ID than the app was purchased with?
bmikes answer is correct. The Apple store does not allow it. Case in point: All my apps on my iPad were purchased using a particular Apple ID. Recently when I moved to a new country, I created a new ID and used that to login to iTunes on my iPad. (The apps downloaded using the previous ID were still there). One of those apps was a magazine app for which I attempted to renew the subscription (in app purchase) but it gave an error saying that the app was downloaded using a different ID. Finally I had to delete the app and re-download it using the new ID.

No problem. I am pretty sure you can achieve the same thing using an HDMI input too. Can you tell me your TVs model number?

Mitch, are you sure you are changing the video mode and not the input? You might me changing the input to PC which will result in the TV searching for a signal at your TVs VGA port. What's your TV model?
