comment Copy Text from Quicklook
Yes I did. I think this trick works when you use QuickLook from the Finder, but not when you call qlmanage -p from the command line.

Ryan Gray's article is no longer at the address given now that Posterous is gone. However, Brett Terpstra has an awesome set of OSX services for Markdown!

comment How do I compile vim with the --enable-gui=yes flag on OS X 10.8.2
Did you try Homebrew? It would be very simple to edit the formula for vim (brew edit vim) and change the line --enable-gui=no to --enable-gui=yes. Your log suggests you might be missing some dependencies.

comment “brew link node” creates/removes different number of symlinks when repeated
Did you run brew doctor? That's the first thing to do in case of problems. The culprit seems to be /usr/local/lib/node_modules/npm/scripts/relocate.sh. Could it be that you installed a non-Homebrew version of Node? In that case, the file above would have non-Homebrew ownership and brew gets confused. There are apparently other such files.

comment Can't assign keyboard shortcut to service
Logging out and back in doesn't seem to resolve the issue. Still no shortcut appearing next to my service in Mail > Services and the shortcut still has no effect.

comment A lot of problems with Homebrew
It looks like your /usr/local contains Homebrew stuff and also other software you might have installed with administrator permissions. I would suggest un-installing Homebrew and reinstalling it in a location where you have full permissions (e.g., ~/homebrew). I would also suggest getting rid of Macports stuff. A Homebrew developer would surely give you the best advice, though. I suggest you post the output above on the Homebrew website: github.com/mxcl/homebrew/issues?sort=created&state=open

comment Can a MacBook Pro reliably wake a Cinema Display when both are sleeping?
What MBP and what Cinema Display models are you using? I have trouble with the 15" MBP Retina Display and the 21" Cinema Display (but not with the 30"). With that combination, I've heard using the HDMI port instead of the Thunderbolt port resolves the issues although I haven't been able to test that.
