Yeah, I do have an official Apple cable... Funny thing: I tried taking a video using Jing, but the area of the retina screen it allowed me to capture video of only extended to where the flickering began. Almost like the OS doesn't think the bottom of the screen should be addressable video area or something?

No, no audio preferences, it has always just used the OS selected audio device. It just stopped working yesterday. Didn't update anything either.

I believe the bug has been fixed. I haven't seen this happen since the latest ML patch, at least.

Yup, I've rebooted and it fixes the immediate issue but it will pop up again eventually.
