Bit of web spinning -- static pages.

Bit of perl scripting.

Compared to most of the people on this site, I'm woefully ignorant. But at least I try to be polite.

I have looked at various enterprise level applications. Not present. If cleverly done, the sync back to google can be in the form of a formatted notes file for things that cannot be mapped to standard fields. E.g. [Tagname:TagValue:Tagdate] I am quite willing to scrap Gmail. I will consider any application that runs on a mac. Normally before asking on Stack Exchange I do my homework. I have spent somewhere between 15 and 30 hours looking already.

Buscar: I'm asking in "Ask Different" But I clarified that I wanted Mac, ipad, iphone versions ideally. Eir: The enterprise level ones do NOT have this capability; at least the ones I've looked at so far. bmike: I think that the ones that don't work would make a worthy answer too. (A worthy unanswer) The question is already long enougn.

Another possibility is to use whatever desktop solution you find effective, then publish using web based photo gallery software.

Aperture is good for the keywording. You may be able to share an aperture library read only. It is not designed for multiuser access. If remote use is read only, it might work.

comment Software recommendation for equivalence to MS Access
Not a duplicate. That should be clear just from the comment on MySQL. It is primarily the fast prototyping, non-programming interface that I'm looking for. *** Based on other posts, I thought a clear request for a software recommendation was appropriate in this division of Stack Exchange. Is there a more appropraite group to ask for this information?

After reading your comment on my answer now I'm confused. Is your network World -- Router/AP --- Mac? and want to connect the other host to the mac through the router/AP Or is it World ---- Mac, and you wnat to connect to the mac through the mac wifi.

Good answer. I'd also give credit for nettop, if it were an answer. I've often used lsof to find files. Didn't realize it was so versitile for networks too.

I just tried. [ netstat -I en2 -w 5 ] reports a string of zeros every 5 seconds. ( I have 4 interfaces on this computer. Overkill....)

comment How can I view hidden files in the Finder?
One gotcha: This works only on your account. It is not a system wide setting. Took me a while to figure out that it wasn't working because I had run it in a sudo shell.

comment Software recommendation for FAST entry of equations
I will take a look at it. I expect good tools to have a learning curve. You didn't learn how to type overnight. Indeed, it took a lot of primary school to even use a pencil, and many of us still don't use it well.

Answer doesn't work. I can bring up the display manager for that screen, select the image, and nothing happens.

Good leads rsanchezsaez. Host math is a nice way to enter ONE equation. In tutoring, it's going to be more like writing a paper. E.g. In solving a problem, you will rewrite the equation in different forms several times, possibly with commentary. When I correct a student's work, I'll often want to write a comment, or draw a circle around something. This can be done on the PDF output. Two leads you gave me however: AsciiMath is something I'll look into, and LyX. Hostmath only allows entering a single equation. At least initially.

comment How can one determine which user deleted a shared file on OS X Mountain Lion Server
A final possibility is that you post a copy of the file, and keep the original in your own home directory. If I worked there, I would keep a copy of everything on a thumb drive that was not connected to the computer too.

You can set shared permissions that are more restrictive. E.g. only the owner can delete a file. Only the owner or a member of a specific group can modify a file. This will require some setup by your IT guy. But it won't help you with the past.

Apple and Unix based systems in general, don't track file deletions. You can add software to track this sort of stuff, but it slows down the file system a bunch (Every file system write turns into two writes -- one for the change, and one for the log.) Worse: This sort of thing doesn't help with Black Hats that modify a file (You know that they modified it, but usually not how. And just opening an excel file seems to modify it. At least when I open it it asks if I want to save.)

comment Change Preview's default “Move to…” directory
You need to provide more information. I cannot find a Move To item in Preview's menu on Snow Leopard. What version are you using? (The closest I've got is "Save" and "Save As" ) Rmember that a 'rename' in unix is a move. Eg. mv foo.pdf bar.pdf renames foo to bar in the existing directory.

comment Why does Finder interact so slowly with NAS?
You should be able to export the file system as SMB and mount it that way on the Mac. This often has better performance than with non-apple implementations of AFP
