How do I use Spotlight to find all MP3 that are encoded at 320 kbps? Some unsolicited advice - Transcoding lossy audio is never recommended. Anecdotally, LAME MP3 encoding is anywhere from 50-70% lossy (I could find no definitive source to cite for this, but these numbers seem to be frequently referenced on music & torrent forums), which means that your conversion from 320CBR to V0 could potentially inflict an additional 50-70% loss of quality. All this for files that are 10-25% smaller. Consider using an app like TuneSpan to free up space on your startup disk. |

Is there a way to automatically add a tag to a song once its added to a smart playlist in itunes? Also, for mass updates of track metadata, Mac Appetite (now defunct, apparently) has an app called QuickTag, which uses scripts to update track metadata in a way that simulates keyword tagging. It looks like you can still download it from cNet if you want to play with it. |

Just curious, this sounds like an X:Y Problem, and I'm wondering what the benefit of adding a number string to the track's grouping field would be when you already have access to the star rating metadata. |

Convert ALAC to aac 128k with all metadata intact There is a panel for customising output file names: grab.by/j8b0 Though, this will set a pattern for all converted files, which wont solve your problem if the naming conventions vary. |

Convert ALAC to aac 128k with all metadata intact I've never batch processed more than a handful of FLAC rips (~5GB) at once. So as far as pausing or keeping track of converted files, I don't have any advice. Although, there are options to automatically add tracks to a specific iTunes playlist once they've been converted, which may help some. If you do decide to go that route, I would recommend using the instructions in this forum post to prevent iTunes importer from throwing errors while importing the files: forums.sbooth.org/… |
