comment What is the meaning of the “§” symbol (on the upper left corner of the mac keyboard)?
@rolin It's similar to, but not the same as the simoleon symbol. Notably, the simoleon's graphic design has a normal circle at the center, not a pair of conjoined curves.

Normal English lowercasing.  Proper-noun exceptions: OS name (“Mountain Lion”) and specific application name (“iOS Simulator”)

As of iOS 9.1, the updates will now re-download automatically after you've deleted them.

comment Are the OSX Mavericks tags visible from the command line?
Still, useful. It answers the question I had when I Googled and ended up here. If there isn't a different Q/A that covers this it might be worth the effort to post and answer one yourself.

revised How can I import external data into HealthKit?
Changed image markdown to HTML tags, and set an explicit width of 320 so that the Retina 2X images show up at a reasonable 1X.  Seriously, they were really way too big before.  Like, the tiny 11pt subtitle table cell text in the images was larger than the SE's body text.

I don't get it. What does the second invocation of df -hl accomplish?

revised Xcode 5.1.1 cannot run on device with iOS 8.0 version
Removed <code> formatting around every version number— that's not really what backticks are for; they're intended to look distinct for the sake of making code (which often uses natural-language words) be non-ambigous.  Version numbers stand out find on their own sans-formatting.

comment Are my permissions for /usr/local/ correct?
Slightly better alternative to your chown: sudo chown -R :admin /usr/local. This way, it'll work the same for any admin user of the machine. Though you may also need to run sudo find /usr/local -perm -200 -exec chmod g+w '{}' \+ to ensure the group has the same write access as the user.
