comment Software to track home renovation
OneNote? It doesn't support export to PowerPoint, but does export to PDF. I'm using it to track the work I'm doing on my home in a similar manner, sans the presentation afterwards.

comment Outlook for Mac CardDAV and CalDAV
No application is for everyone. You've hit on two of the major use cases for Outlook: Exchange and email-only. In essence, everyone uses email. Usage for calendar is much less, and usage of contacts is even less than that. It is, of course, technically feasible to support CardDAV and CalDAV servers. The question is whether supporting them is the right thing to do with the development team, or whether to focus on other use cases.

comment Is it Possible to RDP into a BootCamp Image running Windows 8.1?
So long as you're currently booted into Windows, yes. The settings aren't any different than remoting into any other Windows box.

comment Strange Macbook 13 Retina MagSafe port problem
Have you tried a new power cable? You've asserted that the problem is the MagSafe port, but none of your comments lead me to believe that it must be. My first troubleshooting step would be to ensure that it is the MagSafe port by testing it with a new cable. If another cable works, the problem is likely not the port.

comment Any alternatives to Quicken with auto download of transactions?
I've tried several as well, and none of them have met my needs. I run Quicken for Windows in a VM. It's more fully-featured and less error-prone, in my experience. :/

Yes, I believe so. It's probably worth verifying with someone who's actually purchased that plan, which I have not.

comment Mail.app @hotmail.com Exchange
If you want an Exchange account, then you will have to pay for one. One option is to get one directly from Microsoft, which is available either standalone or as an add-on to Office 365. products.office.com/en-us/exchange/… There are also hosted Exchange providers. All of my Exchange accounts have been provided by the IT department of my various employers, so I don't have a particular recommendation.

comment Mail.app @hotmail.com Exchange
You are correct that, as of November 2014, Apple Mail does not support Exchange ActiveSync. To get what you want, either Microsoft has to add in Exchange Web Services support to Outlook.com/live.com (which Apple Mail already supports), or Apple has to license and implement EAS into Apple Mail.

comment MS Office no longer working
If you have Time Machine, you can try reinstating to the point before you started deleting files. If that doesn't work, your best bet is to delete and reinstall Office. If disk space is a problem (I'm assuming, since you were randomly deleting files), you should perform a custom installation so that you don't install components that you don't need (such as proofing tools for other languages).

comment Are there any options for IOS development on Windows 8? (Apps, Emulators, Cloud Computing OK)
All VMware virtualization products (Fusion, Workstation, vSphere, and ESXi) perform checks that are specific to OS X. One is to ensure that the hardware is Apple hardware, the other is to ensure that the version of OS X that you're attempting to virtualize is a version whose EULA allows for virtualization. You could install Windows on a Mac, install Workstation on that Mac-running-Windows, and then virtualize OS X in Workstation.

Why do you need to downsize your Outlook identity? Is it just the duplication issue that you've identified, or is there something else?

comment How to import from OneNote on Windows to the Mac edition of OneNote?
As of now (May 1, 2014), OneNote for Mac only supports saving to the cloud. It doesn't support local notebooks at this time.

comment Is it possible to highlight text of inbox emails?
I use OneNote to do what you're describing. My mail is organized by project (folder names are "delivery date - project"; ex "2014-03 - MacIT presentation"). I use OneNote to keep notes related to the project (same naming scheme for notebooks), like meeting notes or anything else. If I have an email that I need to annotate, I copy the text into a new note in OneNote, highlight the text, and annotate it there. The thing that I really like about OneNote is that you can easily add text anywhere on the page, which makes annotation easy. No idea if this is helpful, just thought I'd add it in. :)

comment Microsoft Word notebook layout - insert equation?
If you use the first shortcut that is documented there, you will get the "insert equation" box that I think you're looking for. You can type in it. If you're happy with that and not having the menu available to you at all, then that should meet your needs. If you want the visual editor, then add both keyboard shortcuts. Neither of these get you the Equation Editor's Ribbon tab, which I'm not sure if you want.
