comment Using iPhone as modem - battery damage
I wouldn't be hugely concerned about a warm phone, sometimes an iPhone can get hot just from playing video games. But if you're concerned, you can buy an unlocked Nokia Windows GoPhone or something for like $40 and put your SIM in to broadcast WiFi to your computer. And then you have a decent backup smartphone too!

comment MacBook froze up while upgrading to El Capitan
Sometimes it takes a while to install. IDK if your restart made things worse, but it shouldn't take 3 days. Can you provide some info on your specs, HD space, RAM? And which OS you were upgrading from? You may be able to force restart int oa recovery console which you could use to restore your HDD from a Time Machine backup or re-download the OS to try an install again.

comment How to print onto virtual letter paper which exists as PDF?
What normally do you use that virtual printer to do, like actual examples? I'm having a hard time imagining why you would need to have a blue background for lots of different things. Well I mean, you could print your document to PDF and then use PhotoShop or Preview or something to overlay your letterhead over that. Or you could use Pages or Word to make a flyer where the background color is a large blue background layer you add.

comment RAM ejector clips stuck after replacing RAM on late 2006 20" iMac Core 2 Duo
@Tetsujin Thanks. But I mean, I pushed them in quite firmly, they felt like they went all the way in, the computer actually is working and reading both RAM sticks, could that happen if it wasn't all the way in? Do you know if the clips are supposed to feel like they might snap and break when returning them, and are they sturdy to prevent actual damage?

comment iPhone 4S w/ iOS 6, any risks in finally upgrading to 8.4?
Also note that with iOS 9, there's a chance to iCloud so if you want to have your stuff sync'd like in apps that use iCloud, everything needs to upgrade to iOS 9/El Capitan.

comment iPhone 4S w/ iOS 6, any risks in finally upgrading to 8.4?
... then it's mostly just as fast as iOS 7.1 was. Camera's slower though to launch. I decided that it would probably be safe to upgrade my iPhone 4s, but I'm holding off to see if iOS 9.3 is faster. Also I want a smaller size phone, so I might just upgrade to the 5s or I'll see in March '16 if I want to upgrade to the "6c" they announce.

comment iPhone 4S w/ iOS 6, any risks in finally upgrading to 8.4?
This should really be a comment on the original question, not an answer. However, here's my personal experience: When iOS 7 came out, I upgraded my iPhone 4s and iPad 2 (similar specs). It was slow and crashed a lot, and it broke WiFi on my iPhone. When iOS 7.1 came out, I upgraded again, and it helped, and 7.1.1 fixed the crashes and most of the speed issues. Because of the bad experience though, I didn't upgrade to iOS 8, but apps are starting to not be compatible. So I upgraded my iPad to iOS 9.2. It works fine and is slightly slower than iOS 7.1. I use VoiceOver, and when that's off...

comment RAM ejector clips stuck after replacing RAM on late 2006 20" iMac Core 2 Duo
@Tetsujin Interesting. But both sticks are being read, so how could they not be fully in? Again, they felt as though they settled in place. Also, I'm wondering, since it started with two 1-GB sticks, and I had to open the clips to remove one of them, but that released both sticks, then when I put the 2-GB stick in, I had to push both back in to place, one at a time. Could that have affected the clips? Must they both be pushed in simultaneously?

comment Can Siri play a recent iTunes Radio station without an Apple Music subscription?
Thank you. I do hope that they make changes in the future as I've no interest in Beats 1. Would you be able to confirm if saying "Play iTunes Radio" will play Beats 1 as well rather than your most recent, and if saying "Play Owl City Radio" will play Owl City rather than Beats 1? Those are the commands I usually use in iOS 7.

comment Does the reception indicator show voice or data signal strength, or are they the same?
@killswitch Well does the iPhone connect to LTE for both voice and data or not? I know EDGE and LTE can have different towers so if it uses the LTE tower for voice it might have more bars than a phone that can only get EDGE. Am I confusing something?

So for example if a network shows a signal map showing strong 4G/LTE and weak 2G/EDGE, then a 2G phone would get the same number of bars for voice as the LTE phone?

I've heard that putting it in the fridge and then resetting network settings provides a temporary fix, I may try that. But maybe fridge not freezer?

comment No Wi-Fi on iPhone?
Same bug. Noticed it in association with some trouble booting up. Slider won't allow WiFi on. Would Apple replace a 2 year old iPhone 4s, or will they patch a bug soon? I didn't notice any significant heat problems myself.

That makes sense, but what about @tubedogg 's comment that EDGE and LTE are only for data, not voice? Also someone at T-Mobile told me that the maps for voice and data reception should be separate. How do you know when you're going to get good voice or good data?

No, AT&T doesn't let people in regular data plans to tether.

I doubt AT&T's data estimates are more accurate than the device itself which knows what goes in and out.
