I think that would've worked, I was reluctant to because I didn't want to mess with Homebrew's mechanism for enabling non-sudo required installs. The problem seemed to be that Homebrew added o+w permission to /usr/local, but OS X Lion's main user is part of the group of /usr/local, so adding g+w worked. I assume I can now safely remove with sudo chmod g-w /usr/local?

I have to find my OS X disks for that hardware test, but the Activity Monitor didn't really highlight much. When I scroll in Chrome making that hd sound WindowServer and Chrome spike up to 10% and 15% cpu, respectively. Up from about 2% without doing anything.

Do you know what tech specs are for the RAM or where I can look that up? My 2nd question wasn't how many RAM slots there are, I know there are 2, it's whether the included 4gbytes was 2x2gbytes or 1x4gbytes.

The problem is the script that runs my app just quits. You can't do sudo appname &. Running it in the background doesn't give you the opportunity to enter your password.

It is a dummy smtp server for dev purposes. So I just tried it after the sudo password remembering timed out and it just presents 3 password prompts and exits. I guess I have to run a dummy app first with sudo...
