MacBook Pro camera and microphone used by malware? @Gruber this issue is no more pertinent to the Mac than it is to Linux and Windows when it comes to security. There is always a user factor to security. The only way to create a truly secure system is to pretty much not let the user do anything. So long as there are malicious people out there, security will always be a trade-off between protection and convenience. Regarding the kext removal and replacement, a privileged AppleScript or Automator workflow might do the trick. Even so, you'll be inconvenienced by having to run it every time you need the camera. |

Display a notification with AppleScript Actually, it utilizes a workflow in Automator. You asked for an AppleScript option. I have not been able to locate an AppleScript native solution. Therefore, I provided this one as a fallback until a native solution has been found. |

Is there a way to sync iCloud data with a Nokia phone? MobileMe was designed for different purposes. It was also plagued with many problems. When iCloud gets replaced in another 5-10 years, we'll be wishing we had iCloud back. |

MacBook Pro camera and microphone used by malware? Having worked on as many Macs as I have, I can confirm that the light is hard-wired. The only way the light won't illuminate with camera activation is if it is completely detached internally. You can also remove the Kext files (drivers) that provide access to the camera and Mic. Albeit, this is an extreme precaution, but it's used quite frequently when security outweighs the convenience of the built-in devices. |

Do I have malware? Mysterious connection made by app Without knowing what the App is, I can't help shed any light on this matter, and I'm not sure anyone else can either. If Little Snitch reports that the App is attempting to connect to that domain, it is. There is no "false positive" about it. The only question left to ask is WHY is the App connecting to their domain, and on what port. |
