Until 2014-03-31: Java software developer against legacy Cobol code at Kewill in Denmark. MUCH more fun than it sounds :)

comment Does my son know I'm using Find my iPhone when I log on?
@SteppingHat In Denmark 18 years by default means you are a full adult (unless you are incapable and need a warden or similar). I would personally not consider you a child but an adult.

I would strongly recommend that you let your son know that you want to be able to check where he is, and you do so occasionally as part of being a responsible parent.

comment IOS 7 iPad keyboard is unresponsive
Also closing all other applications might release resources and make it less sluggish. Newer iPad models have more memory and Apple optimize the experience for them, so if you have an older model this might be the reason. A good example is that entering panorama mode on my iPhone 4S in iOS 7 might kill music playing instantly - my guess is that it requires SO much memory that even music playing (which should have top priority) has to go.

comment Why does Spotlight give a wrong value for `cos(pi/2)`?
This is typical for any calculator not knowing a lot of rules with symbols but just converting each name to a number when it sees it.

comment Why does my Mac Mini (2012) lock up with a fresh Mavericks install?
The AHT should have caught that. You could also have booted on a Memtest86+ media (like the Ubuntu cd) and tested with that.

Macs are very picky about SSD-drives. Try going back to the original HDD only.

comment Why does my Mac Mini (2012) lock up with a fresh Mavericks install?
It was a long shot. Has it ever worked as expected? What have you changed since then? (New RAM/harddisk/extra USB devices)?

comment Mac OS reinstall - what to backup for manual restore?
I replace my harddrive in my elderly MacBook Pro every 1-2 years (and put the old one in remote storage as backup). This is the way I do it - after restoring the Time Machine backup I have everything back as before.

Looks like a graphics driver problem. Is there any messages visible with the Console.app tool after reboot?

comment How do I turn off “Find my iPhone” on my device without wi-fi?
Turn it completely off and on again. What you are seeing is basically anti-theft measurements.

On which end? You have two set of keys.

comment Using Time Machine with a already used NTFS disk
@andreas most likely because the disk was not formatted by Disk Utility.

comment SIGSEGV when trying to install Java EE SDK 7 on OS X Mavericks
The DISPLAY line should be unnecessary. OS X Java does not use X11.

comment Just dropped my mac, speakers broke?
I have read the question. The symptom is the same in the speakers and the headphones - the cause is therefore somewhere common to these two and will most likely not be fixable by changing the speakers.

If the headphones show the same symptom, it is not the speakers.

comment Computer keeps crashing after I replaced the RAM
Note that the crash may be due to the crashing program being placed in faulty RAM. Safe mode uses memory differently and hence not trigger the same crash.
