comment Time Machine backing up more data than I can physically have
The Symlinks might be the cause. I have a few to backup some Eclipse workspaces within Dropbox. I still don't think they'd account for such a big difference though. If no one has a better answer in the next couple of hours, I'll accept this.

@tubedogg I don't have any external drives connected other than the Time Capsule.

@Buscar웃 I have 39.58/512GB free on my SSD.

@Buscar웃 I'm not sure of the exact amount. Time Machine's backed up stuff before, so I should have fairly less than 512 gigs based on their incremental backup system. I'm just a little confused as to how it even found 520 gigs of data on a 512 gig machine.

Hmm. This might work, but I'd prefer the option of having the lid down. I live in India, which is fairly dusty and humid, and by shutting the lid I can prevent stuff from getting in through the keyboard and top vent. Already ruined the logic board once because of that.

comment Are the app store review guidelines under NDA?
@Tony I also mentioned that AFAIK, we were not required to sign an NDA for this when registering our developer accounts. At least I wasnt.

comment Why do external hard drives stop working under very specific conditions?
No. I wasn't writing to the NTFS disk. Only reading. The other disks were formatter to either Mac's filesystem or ExFAT, so I could write to them.
