comment How can I make example.com and www go to http://www.example.com/wiki/projects?
Whether my answer would work or not depends on how the app gets its requests. The vhosts strategy would be fine for something that's installed as a web app with apache as the front end but not for something that controls its own server port numbers.

comment Can I remove the page breaks (or re-flow postscript documents) in PDF files?
After a bit more research, I decided that writing my own app was the best idea. As you say, I can calculate a page size by combining existing sizes, and then I can re-render pages into appropriate rectangles within the expanded page. (I haven't figured out yet whether I can do anything about excess page margins but the basics are working.)

Being version-specific isn't a true requirement.

I have no guarantee that the PostScript input would be a single page file; I'd need the converter to ignore page information (or, if necessary, recalculate a page size based on total content).

comment What determines a local file's MIME type?
It's really a system configuration question, except for the part where I don't know which piece of the system to configure. :) As a developer, when I open a file URL, I'm told what OSX thinks its MIME type is. In that role, there's nothing I can do to influence the incoming information. (But, thanks, I may try S.O. just because there could be others there who have been in the same position.)
