comment How to restore a hidden file in Time Machine?
It is a sad fact that this seems to be by far the simplest way. Thank you for this brief moment of sanity

comment How to backup Bootcamp partition via Time Machine?
Although this wasn't the question being asked here, you can tell Time Machine to backup to an NTFS drive using a sparsebundle containing a TM preference file (as it does for network drives) - cafe-encounter.net/p1847/…

comment How to backup Bootcamp partition via Time Machine?
Time Machine does not ignore all NTFS drives. I've happily backed up an NTFS drive for the past year -- I even had my iPhoto library on it -- mounted with the Tuxera NTFS driver. But I agree Time Machine has always refused to backup my BootCamp partition. I remove it from the exclude list, and tho TM gives me no error message, it just puts it back straight away

comment Creating System-Wide Keyboard Shortcut To Launch Applications
In Mavericks I find that a shortcut under Services only works after you've 'pre-warmed' it by once choosing it from the menu. For a 'cold' start in Mavericks I create the service the same way you explain; but then put the shortcut under Shortcuts - App Shortcuts - All Applications - Add - (type in service name)

comment iTunes keeps asking about incoming network connections
By way of comparison, this is what I got from codesign -v --verbose && codesign -d --verbose: /Applications/iTunes.app: valid on disk /Applications/iTunes.app: satisfies its Designated Requirement codesign -d --verbose /Applications/iTunes.app Executable=/Applications/iTunes.app/Contents/MacOS/iTunes Identifier=com.apple.iTunes Format=bundle with Mach-O universal (i386 x86_64) CodeDirectory v=20100 size=131865 flags=0x0(none) ..etc.. So yes that's evidence that your app is at fault. Clutching at straws: try disk utility - repair file permissions?

comment How to download Bootcamp drivers without Bootcamp assistant?
To be fair, the question was asked 2 years ago! Also, please note, my website does NOT give you third party downloads: The links are all to URLs on swcdn.apple.com. The hard work -- and Apple is still not helping with this -- is working out which download link you need for which older model of Mac. The new apple bootcamp links at support.apple.com/downloads/#bootcamp are great but still only name a handful of models; for the rest you are left guessing which download you need.
