comment What tiny thing in iOS 5 makes you smile, or has caught you off guard?
I was excited to see my colors change since I use Google Sync. Now I'm really excited I can change them on the phone itself :D

@VxJasonxV: Is that a reference to the old commercials that use to say "Drug-free is the way to be" or did I just have a weird deja-vu moment?

comment Adding movie-style sound effects to the Terminal
On Snow Leopard, the path is /System/Library/Components/CoreAudio.component/Contents/Resources/SystemSounds/‌accessibility/. Nice find by the way; those are good sounds to use. I like the sound of Mouse Keys ON.aif for printing text to the screen.

comment How do I take a steathy picture with my iSight camera from the command line?
@dacracot I figured as much. Like I said, this is the only native way I know of so you'll have to go the hard route if you want stealth.

comment /private/tmp vs /private/var/tmp vs TMPDIR
Good question. I just checked and I think /private/var/tmp sticks around longer because I have stuff in there from over a year ago.

comment Can i install the applications disc of my snow leopard on Mac OS X Lion?
Oh that makes sense. My Mac came with Leopard and I upgraded to SL, so I have the Application Disc from 10.5. I put it in my computer to see what was on it and found iWeb, Garageband, iDVD, iPhoto, and iMovie. Oddly enough, iDVD and iPhoto are grayed out.

I just want to confirm that the Snow Leopard DVD has iLife on it. I was thinking that it didn't.

comment Can every YouTube video be played on the iPad2?
@Anirbit That seems odd that the Apple Store doesn't have wi-fi. Maybe they have some 3G iPads you can test out. I hate to burst your bubble but the iPhone drops any wi-fi connection when the display is turned off (sleep) so I would imagine the iPad does the same. You would need to keep it plugged in to maintain a wi-fi connection. A laptop can be configured not to do this.

The first link is invalid. The videos in the second link don't seem to work. If I were you, I would create a list of videos to test, go to the nearest Apple Store, then try each of them on the iPad. If you are concerned about playing every video, then the iPad is probably not the device you want and you may be looking for something like a netbook (cheap laptop). I hope that helps.

comment Why do I have to drag my new apps into the application folder?
@Drew So the difference between an installer and a dmg with an app in it is simply copying the app to the /Applications directory. This answer (by XQYZ) states why apps are distributed as dmg format, so to answer the question, why do you expect you to drag/drop it? Because it's convention but not required. So they give you the option but you could put it wherever you want. An installer doesn't make sense because the developer doesn't know where you want to place the app. Installers are used when you need to write more files than just an app.
