comment How to connect to modem setup as bridge through Airport Extreme?
My best guess is that the modem is simply ignoring you. Because of NAT, your router is identifying the outgoing traffic as coming from 75.x.y.2, and the modem might intentionally only allow access from within 192.168.0.x.

comment Is it bad or unhealthy to put my Mac to sleep?
I'd be curious to know whether safe sleep writes all 8GB or just the parts that are in use. If I get bored enough later, I might test this by comparing how long it takes for my power LED to start blinking when all 8GB is in use versus as little as possible.

Can you run traceroute 192.168.0.1 in Terminal and paste the result into your question or pastebin? It might give some useful information. I have a similar setup and I think I've had trouble connecting to my modem at times, but right now it works normally.

A real KVM is by far the best solution. I'd heartily upvote that if you posted it as an answer, @Jason.

Correction: It triggers a backup for the last drive I backed up to, and complains with a dialog box if the drive isn't available. No, that won't do... :/

TimeMachineEditor is triggering backups successfully, on the downside it only does so for the first disk unlike the default behaviour which rotates through all available disks.

comment Why are files moving to 'backup' in storage when I delete them off my macbook pro?
Here's a page full of info about local snapshots. But seriously, you don't need to disable it. They surrender their space automatically. I don't know why the Storage page doesn't make this more explicit. The amount shown in Finder does exclude them, though - that's the Free number you should pay attention to.

Interesting idea. TimeMachineScheduler seemed to be unable to trigger a backup at all - not sure whether that's because it doesn't support multiple backup destinations or because the one I can use right now is a network share. I'm watching TimeMachineEditor now to see if it works.
