Is it possible to check which application has accessed a file last? And what about the user ( root, _spotlight, username, etc...)? Is it registered who accessed the file? |

MBP with Mountain Lion 10.8.3 loses connection to system SSD at random times and freezes Why is this down voted? Did the firmware update not solve the problem? Please add a comment to your downvote as this gives the answerer the chance to improve the answer. |

Notification when iSight turns on Ah, I rejoiced too soon. Citrix Viewer, a remote desktop client, also accesses the VDC file as it opens. It makes sense as it may need access to the camera, but this makes this solutions less perfect. |

Notification when iSight turns on The file I mentioned above is the one I need. I just tried other applications that use iSight and every time I got a Growl notification. Thanks a lot for your help, if you post an answer with my suggested modification I will accept it. |

Notification when iSight turns on I checked for Open Files and Ports in Activity Monitor (through Inspect) and found the files that Skype (while using the iSight) and Photo Booth open. I listed them both, compared them and extracted the files that both the programs open. They're listed here. One of these files must be unique to iSight usage. I've tried the one in line 12 (..../MacOS/VDC), pasted it in your script and it seems to work. When Skype, PhotoBooth, FaceTime or a Flash web application uses the iSight I get a notification. |

Notification when iSight turns on Thank you. Is there any way to find out what files are accessed when the iSight is turned on? Can I somehow trace that in Terminal? |

Notification when iSight turns on Thank you, the dropbox link command works. However, running the command shows me a date and time at which I didn't use my iSight. Also turning on Photo Booth (so also the iSight), turning it off again and running the command does not change the displayed date. So it seems that the command is not working as expected. A working solution would be great, but no hurry, I have asked this question in January, I could wait a little more. |

MBP with Mountain Lion 10.8.3 loses connection to system SSD at random times and freezes Do you have an external hard drive enclosure? You could insert the SSD in it and start up from it. See if the problem persists. If so, likely the SSD is at fault, if not the SATA cable connecting your SSD to the motherboard might be broken. Another indicator of the latter is a malfunctioning sleep light as the light is on the same cable ribbon as the SATA cable. |

Should the Sudden Motion Sensor be disabled with a hybrid hard drive? No, I don't have any evidence besides the link I gave in the post. |

Safari keeps opening mailto links in Gmail in a new tab @patrix, that's the golden tip. I indeed had an extension installed which redirected my mailto's to Gmail... Sorry, for this stupid mistake. |

Can you send a message across the network? Just to be sure, you want to send a message from a Mac to another Mac? Or is there a Windows computer involved? Could you also add which OS versions your machines are using? |

How to convert a Numbers file to .pdf and still have its formula work PDF's mostly contain static content, so a cell with a working formula is out of the scope of a PDF. The best way to sent a spreadsheet with working formulas to your client is as a Numbers file, or in case the client does not have iWork, save it as an Excel file. If you want to lock certain parts of the spreadsheet, that's possible. It's easier in Excel than in Numbers, but how to do that is out of the scope of this question. Ask a new question or rephrase this one about locking spreadsheet contents. |
