comment Mountain Lion: AirPlay doesn't show up (but it works in iTunes)
It works to say the least, but it isn't as smooth or as nice in quality as Airplay mirroring. Apple did a really good job with the stream feature in Airplay. I played a 1080p mkv with subtitles from my mid-2011 mac mini to my 1080p Apple TV 3rd Gen while simultaneously running a 1080p monitor and there were no hiccups. WIth air parrot, which you can get as a free trial, doesn't send it over in the same quality and I had to lower the quality, but even after doing that, it didn't play smooth or as nicely, it was running the content at about 15-20 frames a second. It works, but not as well.

comment Disappearing Alerts - Notification Center not working as per Preference Settings
Are you in Safari when you receive the alerts or are you in a another application? If you are using Safari or are currently on the page when you receive the alerts that may be the reason why they aren't staying. Similar to being in mail when you receive an email in iOS, since your in mail and can obviously see the new messages that were sent to you, it doesn't need to keep it in the NC. Please let us know.

comment Attach a sketchpad device to a MacBookPro to make use of sketch-enabled apps
Yes, they make some that work like trackpads though, you will want one that is pen-input based. Like this Bamboo Model: wacom.com/en/Products/Bamboo/BambooTablets/BambooSplash.aspx

comment Receiving an Unknown iOS Notification — Audio Only
Well, as you know, when programming most things with blanks or nils, you tend to ignore them or have exceptions for them since they would be confusing behavior. People who got blank notifications would think that there is something wrong with their Device or something. I hope that I was at least able to help you out though.

comment Being asked to log in to a different account to update Mac App Store apps
If you pulled it from her drive, then that is what is causing the issue for sure. Unfortunately though, unless you know her password, own it on the App store, or have access to an install disk/USB, or have access to a backup/time machine backup of your system which would have your iPhoto App Backed up on it, then you will not be able to get it on your system updated through any legal means for free. You can delete the App, it won't do anything to your Photos, and then buy it on the App store, that will install it fresh on your system. But it will cost you money.

There isn't a way to see that particular option unfortunately. You could try turning on more notifications for Apps that you think are the culprit. Do you remember when you started getting them and which Apps you installed then? There isn't any Apple iOS solution besides tinkering with settings until you figure out which one it is. Maybe turing on Badges if they are an option will allow you to see which ones are lighting up. Turn on badges for every app you think is the culprit and compare those apps when ever you get that wordless notification.

comment Upgraded my HDD to SDD. Can boot successfully via USB but will not boot when in MBP
Did you ever get a chance to try and reinstall the OS on the drive? That is going to be the easiest thing to try first. It won't delete any or your files, just upgrade and fix corrupted ones. Make sure you still have your back up/drive you cloned from just in case something happens. After you try this, let me know what happens, ok? If you need help making a bootable usb stick install drive for Lion, here is a link on how to make one: macrumors.com/2011/08/08/…
