comment What do the small-sunrise / big-sunrise icons mean on F5 and F6 on the MacBook Air?
I interpreted them to be "speedometer icon", and almost thought it is for making the processor run faster or slower

comment Does OS X's Disk Utility create hardware RAID or software RAID?
My Book Duo's product overview says "encrypted hardware RAID" and in the user manual: "Speed and security with hardware-configured RAID—True hardware RAID uses an independent processor to manage RAID volumes, maximize bandwidth, and sustain performance and reliability."

you can trust an anantech article in general? (it is not an article by a casual user?) By the way, I found that My Book Duo has "hardware RAID" stated in its user manual, while Thunderbolt Duo, My Cloud EX2, My Cloud Expert Series, My Cloud Business series, do not mention "hardware RAID" in its user manual

I can't find any where even on WD's website and its specs whether the Thunderbolt Duo has software RAID or hardware RAID... but I assume this high end Thunderbolt drive has hardware RAID, but I could be wrong... I saw on this cnet review: cnet.com/products/wd-my-book-duo that even a My Book Duo has hardware RAID. But it might be true: I just found Thunderbolt Duo's product overview doesn't mention hardware RAID: wdc.com/wdproducts/library/AAG/ENG/4178-705323.pdf while My Book Duo does mention hardware RAID: wdc.com/wdproducts/library/AAG/ENG/4178-706423.pdf

comment How to solve audio sync issue on the Mac? (and it is not just by a constant out of sync amount)
oh that might be better. I am right now trying this: detach audio, and click on the video clip and choose Modify -> Retime -> Custom Speed and type in 100.13 in the box and press Enter. It appears as 100 again but the duration below will shrink by 4 seconds. This way I can make it sync better, but there seems to be a granularity of 4 seconds. So if I type in 100.08, it still would show as 4 seconds shorter, instead of only 3 seconds shorter. But it is strange... if I keep on trying different numbers, sometimes I can make it 5 seconds shorter... so it is a bit random
