It's definitely intentional, so I'd call it a feature.

comment Where are the latest drivers for the Intel HD Graphics 4000?
The video drivers for Mac OS X are packaged with the OS and not available separately, AFAIK.

Restarting is a good idea whenever you install any system upgrade.

comment iPhone does not react to charger unless turned off
If you can demonstrate this at an Apple store, Apple will replace it.

While this link may answer the question, it is better to include the essential parts of the answer here and provide the link for reference. Link-only answers can become invalid if the linked page changes.

comment Are there third-party mechanical keyboards that strictly have the Apple layout?
I've used both the Tactile Pro keyboard and the Das Keyboard for years. I prefer the feel of the Das Keyboard, but the layout takes some getting used to. On the other hand the layout of the Tactile Pro is closer to what you expect if you are used to Apple keyboards, but it requires a heavy hand compared to the Das Keyboard. I've been wanting to try the Code Keyboard with the clear switches. From what I've read that is the best feel around. codekeyboards.com

comment Connecting my iPod to my Car's 30-pin Dock but Being Able to Control It from Within the iPod?
Cassette adaptor? My cars have had either a cassette or an aux in. I'm spoiled in my VW with aux in, 30 pin and Bluetooth.

comment iPad LTE edition and SIM from smartphone
If you buy an LTE iPad with a T-Mobile sim it includes 200MB/month of data, no charge. I'm not sure if it will work to buy a T-Mobile sim for your iPad to get the free data, but it is at least worth some research. You could also buy it and if it doesn't work return the sim card.

I think that he meant nefarious. I would say hideous. iPod nanos do not run app store apps.

comment Erroneous “Installation Alert” upon installing XCode 3.2.6
You are right. When I'm logged to my developer account that is all paid up I can find the download for Xcode 4.2, but it doesn't show up in the account that I allowed to lapse.

comment Erroneous “Installation Alert” upon installing XCode 3.2.6
Is there a reason you can't run Xcode 4.2? It is generally best to run the latest version of Xcode that an OS supports and once you get used to it it is much nicer than Xcode 3.

comment What versions of OS X are affected by Heartbleed?
This is more a concern for web servers than clients used to connect to them. Your information can be compromised even if your machine doesn't have the Heartbleed version of OpenSSL.

comment Frequent kernel panics osx 10.9
I would start by disabling all of the third party kexts to see if that helps. If that does then reinstall them slowly one at a time to see if you can pin down which one or combo is at fault.

This isn't what the OP is asking. Your answer is contained in the original question. PJ has already tried that did not solve his problem.

It doesn't matter if it is warranty or not. Take it to a Genius bar and they will let you know what the problem is.

I can see that, but it's not something I've ever tried.

comment How can I launch a GUI app in Applications folder from command line?
I've never had the -a flag fail. Apps don't have to be located in /Applications for it to work. I can open stuff I've written that is buried somewhere in ~/Library/ without a problem. The only issue is if there is more than one copy of an app then I'm not sure which one will open.

If you use the -a flag for the open command you don't need the path.

comment Why does my macbook pro displays random garbled blocks?
I've had the same thing on two machines. The graphics card was bad and Apple replaced it under warranty. In one case, twice in about 5 weeks.
