comment Mac Mail App stuck!
Mail has become such an unpredictable mess, I think Apple has a page devoted to it. Have you tried uninstalling it with an app like AppCleaner, deleting everything AC finds except the app itself—FIRST moving the Mail folder from your ~/Library to the desktop. Then Restart, then put the folder back. Start Mail, and it should ask you to import everything you want to keep, one folder at a time - and keep the Envelope Index in the Mail folder, as is. You can use Connection Doctor with each import - and should end up with a working app. This one at a time method seems to work esp. well with Gmail.

comment Stop asking for iCloud password every time I log in
Two questions are here: what do you suppose the ? stands for, in this case? One of the main apps Apple wants kept i the dock, perhaps? Or one that's checked in System Preferences, Users & Groups, Login Items (less likely.) What this has to do with asking for iCloud password every login could be anything in the Cloud, iTunes or the App Store - anything - but can be set so as not to, each app or iCloud sharing in its own way. Hope this at least begins to help.

comment System Preferences saving where you last clicked?
Are we discussing Yosemite, or El Capitan - which I notice to be more methodical, more stable. In Yosemite I had a great deal of this ghosting - preference boxes checked, etc. Highly doubtful anyone can access my machine - and sure enough, the janky behavior stopped in El Capitan.

comment mDNSResponder question - what is it doing in this specific case?
I believe it's showing whether your machine's services will respond at all, or whether a given service is turned off in the Firewall.

Have same problem, and plan to call up Apple and beg.

comment MacBook Pro won't boot
In my experience - tho this hasn't happened for a long time - this behavior means the logic board is going bad, for which there is only replacement. Have you got an external portable USB drive to back up to now? Try SuperDuper for that backup.

comment How to reset Calendar and Reminders on OS X Yosemite?
There's lots of things Apple should do and should support; they seem as paralyzed by iTunes as the rest of us, Too many functions. Here's the Feedback page: apple.com/feedback

comment Replace Text Edit as the default text editor
Would it work better if you gave the file an extension, or Unhide extension in GetInfo ..?

comment How do I succeed setting sublime text 3 as a default text editor on Yosemite?
What about simply selecting a file of the type you want to change, and do a Get Info, In that window, you can choose a preferred app for the file and also select Use this app to open all such files. I find that choice holds, even in Yosemite.

You're syncing thru iTunes?? How about using iCloud itself, thereby eliminating that unnecessary piece of bloat. Set up in System Preferences/iCloud and Internet Accounts,

comment iMessage app wont open on macbook pro and will freeze mac trying to open
Sometimes going to the app itself and using Open in the contextual menu works. You might also trash its Saved State folder in your Library and restarting the app.

comment Paintbrush cuts off clipboard image from screenshot
Sounds like a problem with Paintbrush. You can trash it's Saved Application State, in your User Library ... and move its Preference File to desktop or trash.

comment why WiFi gets reconnected when switching network location?
Sure, it's possible. Shouldn't be doing that. I might run Airport Utility, noting settings first, and start all over. Also changing DNS in Network Preferences & AU has helped some people.

comment ERR_CONNECTION_REFUSED on browsing to one website
Not if only on your MBP. Can only add that I had to do three (3) internet installs (from Recovery Disk) to cure janky trackpad. Seems like all bets are off as to ordinary fixes, never mind customization, in Yosemite, and it can't be a coincidence that Sir Interface is in charge. In the long run, those reinstalls are easiest. I do fear El Capitan or Bridal Falls or whatever it's called...

comment Enabling icon previews for custom text files
Sorry, I wasn't really sure what you were asking, and should have passed. You don't mean what shows up in Quicklook, do you? Good luck, anyway.

comment Enabling icon previews for custom text files
Possible, yes. But depends on which app you want to open them. Do a Get Info (Comm-I) on any one of them, scroll down to Open With, choose your app, and also choose Use this app to open all docs like this one. You can also copy and paste the doc icon from another .md file. Is this what you mean?
