comment Require login for Single User mode?
@cyphorious I'm not so much worried about data theft (private files are in an encrypted dmg), but if you need the key to even boot, that could work well. Does full-disk encryption slow things down? For example, does the entire OS need to be loaded to memory?

Are you trying to restore to a certain firmware? You may need to upgrade to the latest version your device supports. (4.2.1, I believe)

Unfortunately, this isn't an option for me. See pastebin.com/vsv2ggGz

comment First click doesn't register?
@HaraldHanche-Olsen I don't think that's it, as I clicked "add comment", the window frame and buttons were the normal color, and it required two clicks.

I have the same issue on 10.6.7. There are about 10 new messages per second. I can't even read my logs anymore.

comment Syncing old iTunes to new iOS?
@duci9y Yes, but that would require a) iTunes to work on Linux, or b) My Windows and Linux box to be different computers so I could SMB my external drive to Windows from Linux.

comment Syncing old iTunes to new iOS?
It's a long story why I'm locked into 10.6.7. For said long story, see pastebin.com/vsv2ggGz. My library is about 400GB on a 640GB external HDD. My Mac's internal HDD is 160GB. My windows/linux box has enough free space. That might be a last resort, but I think booting Linux and just copying from the HFS+ to the NTFS would be easier. Perhaps there's a utility that can mount an HFS+ drive? I've only found ones that can view files through their interface, but not make them accessible to other applications. I also thought of making an SMB server on my mac, but see the paste again.

Deserves a +1, but "Also note that my admin is quite paranoid, and ...... I have no advanced options."

comment Are apps that use LSUIElement in their plist causing google account problems?
It would seem that's the problem, it gives me "code or signature modified". But either way, after I give the app my account info manually, it still says it's incorrect.

comment Are apps that use LSUIElement in their plist causing google account problems?
How would I know if they are? Is there a way to check? And if so, can I just allow that app to run unsigned, since I trust it?

comment Are apps that use LSUIElement in their plist causing google account problems?
I can see why that would happen, but it gave me the "app would like to access Keychain" message, and I gave it permission. And on top of that, I entered the password manually within the app, so keychain should be irrelevant.

@StevenFisher I'm trying to to 3.2.6, since I have Snow Leopard and no access to the Mac App Store on this machine.

comment Is it possible to access a Mac via SSH without administrator access?
Thanks, I'll check that out. I use this machine on my own network 90% of the time (and would be using ssh on my network 100% of the time), and I have complete control of the machine's firewall. The admin doesn't really care what I do, they are just stubborn and refuse to type the password for fear of keyloggers, since the admin account's password is the same on over 30000 machines they administrate.

comment Mac App Store without admin password?
OK. I'm on 10.6, and while the admins don't care about apps being installed, they don't like typing in the password for anything non-crucial. So, I guess I'm out of luck.
