Where should shell tools be installed? Perhaps "core" was the wrong choice of word (since it gave the impression that all of it resided there), but what I wanted to convey is that it is part of your OS and you shouldn't tinker with it. Of course, this is pointless now as you have removed it from your question in an edit. As for texbin, it's a convention that they've adopted and stick to (nothing wrong with that). There's also a /usr/local/texlive, where the packages are installed to. |

Can OS X be remotely accessed using the GUI but securely to hide what is displayed locally? Have you tried using LogMeIn? I haven't personally used it since I don't have more than one mac, but a lot of my coworkers have used it and found it very useful. |

How do I compile vim with the --enable-gui=yes flag on OS X 10.8.2 Although it doesn't work with Eclipse, this answers my question, so +1! Eclipse needs vim with gtk support, but I seem to be having issues compiling that as well. However, that's a different issue and looks like I might be able to fix it myself. Thanks :) |

How to allow users to reset passwords in Time Capsule accounts? Ah, ok. It's not OS X Server... we're all on our individual macs. |

How to allow users to reset passwords in Time Capsule accounts? "server based permissions and account management toolset" could you elaborate on that? I understood the shared disk setup to mean that everyone could access others' files unless it was encrypted. Is this not the case? |

Locked iPod Touch, any options besides total system wipe I'd say this is probably a good life lesson for him... one never truly learns the utility of backing up unless one has actually lost something very valuable. |
