Hello, I've been an Apple fan since 1980's but only started programming on the iOS and web design since a few years ago. I studied computer science in college as part my science training, programming in procedural languages such as Pascal and ADA (C++ was just getting popular and Java wasn't born yet. Neither was the web).

A few friends nicely introduced me to some basics concepts of objective programming and now here I am venturing into Objective C and iOS programming bit by bit and HTML/JS/CSS also.

As of now, I have completed 5 iPhone utility apps, plus, one iPad educational app. I like the challenge of self-learning and getting natural with the jargons does take time. But I assure you I am very logical in my approach. This is a wonderful website with a lot of helpful people. I hope to learn a lot here and contribute whenever I can.

comment Photostream stopped uploading in iOS 6.0.1
Uploading from the iOS devices. It stopped uploading to the photostream from my iOS devices a few weeks ago. Restoration works and backing up old stream to the Mac works but it doesn't upload new photos I have taken.

comment How do I set the window minimize and maximize speed without using the shift-key
Reducing information anxiety. When computer do things faster than I can think, it can get out of control. This helps to slow it down a little. For what I do in creatives, efficiency isn't always a top criteria.

There are several ways to "get the file out" You can always use the email option to get the PDF from pages out into the world. Or you can open it with the "open with another application" option in iBook, kindle or some msword friendly apps like docToGo. Then there is the iTunes option. The screenshot method is really a last resort option if you are in a bind and need something quickly.

comment iPad Mail app doesn't completely search inbox or contact
User133466, if you tried all the search criteria combination and it still doesn't show up then its probably no use. I had that experience many times and had to go back to my desktop and find the email.

Ah, okay. Thanks. I appreciate that. I guess my answer is: there isn't much user133466 can do. It's broken. I also had that problem for a very long time and the only way I found is to not search on the phone but on the computer. What I want (and presumably user144366 as well) is to find his old email so until google and yahoo and/or apple all fix their mobile mail app search, this is only way I have found. Sorry can't be more helpful than that.

I don't have a question. I am merely suggesting a workaround.

comment How to use the camera of an iPad connected to a Mac as a video camera?
Well if you turn on the camera app, whatever is in the camera app will flow your screen. Although I don't know what the refresh rate is. It's free to try. Good luck.

comment Are there any downsides to leaving personal hotspot perpetually on?
A search on google: "does hotspot standby drain iphone battery" gives you many answers. In particular I found this one to be useful: discussions.apple.com/thread/3907928?start=0&tstart=0 Apparently, which iOS and how some of the mail is configured etc all goes into how fast the hotspot drains the battery. Good luck.
