comment keeping python 3 up to date on a mac
Nothing to apologise for! ;) what I want is a totally sandboxed thing where if I type 'python' in a tty I will get the OS X supplied one -- that is the default and I do not want to ever mix it with my own stuff by mistake. If I can sandbox HB python3 so that I need to specify I want that and not the default (every time!) then I'm good to go.

Quote: "this version will automatically take place instead of the OS X version (if it doesn't, just run "brew link python3" - this will symlink python3 into /usr/local/bin/)". That is exactly what I do NOT want. I use Homebrew for other stuff and I am not sure I want to go down the Homebrew way...

comment Uk apple shop won't fix my phone under EU warranty
In addition, the directive expects goods to be working properly for at least 24 month -- thus the fact the phone was 22 month is irrelevant if the flaw was ones covered by statutory warranty.

The European directive specifies that, if the fault happens within 12 month from the sale, it is for the seller to prove the good is fit for purpose, if the fault happens between months 13 and 24 from the sale is for the buyer to prove the good is not fit for purpose and the flaw is covered by warranty. In my experience sellers do not bend over backwards to help, and the need a robust reminder of their legal duties, which has to be calm and polite, but relentless. It is a condition of sale they have to respect, and they should not be allowed to wriggle out of it even if they try

comment Converting an SVG file, without using Imagemagick or Inkscape
It did when I installed Imagemagick -- if this annoying behaviour has been rectified I would not know because I removed the lot and never reinstalled Imagemagick

Have you tried to file a bug against irb? it might well be possible that irb is the sole cause of this problem you are having
