I’ve been doing professional Mac tech support, training, consulting and punditry since 1993 when I began working for the Massachusetts Institute of Technology; when I left in 2007, I was the Macintosh Platform Coordinator for the Institute.
I’ve presented at Macworld back in the day, as well as at NERCOMP (NorthEast Regional Computing Program) conferences.

What's the deal with Xcode's price? Apple is quite conservative when it comes to their accounting practices. Anyone who listens to Apple’s quarterly conference calls will hear this issue come up regularly. |

Does the 2011 iMac have SATA 3 support? I’m not surprised that the iMac, which is a consumer machine, doesn’t have a SATA 3 controller. And even if it did, I can’t see it making a noticeable difference. |

Is Snow Leopard Server a good candidate for everyday use as a main OS? Sounds a little FUD-like to me. Other than a few plists and what apps are bundled, Mac OS X and Mac OS X Server are the same operating system. It’s not true that applications—especially Apple’s—perform differently on Mac OS X Server vs. Mac OS X. I’ve been running 64-bit Snow Leopard on an mid-2009 MacBook Pro for nearly a year and haven’t run into any issues with 3rd party extensions not being “ready.” |

Theming Mail.app to look like iPad's Mail.app or Thunderbird If you can hold out a couple of months, Mac OS X 10.7 “Lion” will have an iPad-like version of Mail.app when it ships this summer. |
