comment Can I trust Apple support and share my password?
@DaveKaye Yep, s'what I do, but do remember that dummy account still needs to be an admin account, and then your back door's left open as long as that account's there... Just pointing out that it's not not [sic] in the Store's MO to ask for passwords. And for heaven's sake, still use a strong password. ;^) But good point, the ADN should have you sitting there, and shouldn't need a pwd. Even then, it's great to create a dummy admin account just to keep your "real" stuff private, you know? /shrug

comment Can I trust Apple support and share my password?
Fwiw, I've routinely been asked to give an account with password when I've dropped boxes off at the Genius Bar is in the US, and I've even had them ask once when they didn't keep the box (so they debugged, ordered a logic board, and then asked me for a login and password. Assumedly it was for testing if I dropped it off later for the fix, but wow. Bizarre). That said, it shouldn't be required, and you should always feel free to say no. At worst, you're just going to have to type it in yourself as they watch over the shared screen (or literal shoulder).

comment What's the max resolution for mini DisplayPort connected to a 2013 MacBook Air?
Though it might be worth noting that even if the monitor had better circuitry, you could still have a hard time getting 2560x1440 via Apple's DisplayPort to VGA adapter. I'm unable to go above 1080p with my late 2013 27" iMac and a Monoprice 2560x monitor, though my Lenovo T430 lights up every pixel with VGA. I'm not sure why the Mac doesn't keep up.

comment How to transmit my PC onto my iMac?
Probably worth mentioning Edweird isn't wrong -- there are two iMacs for which Target Display Mode isn't limited to Thunderbolt inputs, the Late 2009 and Mid 2010 27" models. Those use "Mini DisplayPort to Mini DisplayPort". But anything newer and you're back to RDP-land in the answer, above. And fwiw, there's more on using a GPU with Thunderbolt out here -- you potentially could pull it off.

comment How to start SQL Developer with the correct Java Version?
See if this post helps, down at the "But My SQL Developer is Using the Wrong JDK!?" section: [A]ll you need to do is explore the SQL Developer package, and edit the sqldeveloper-Darwin.conf file in the bin directory. Update the ‘SetJavaHome’ line to point to the 1.7 JDK

comment Dimensions as criteria for iPhoto smart album?
Even more specifically, that's a "unicode multiplication sign" (C397). Info here. The easiest way to get one, of course, is to cut and paste yours, above (or this one ×). ;^) Neat trick; thanks!

I'm wrong. Wish I'd ordered a different Lenovo now.

comment Can I reverse the scroll direction of my mouse?
Unf. for me, treats the Magic Mouse and conventional scrollwheel mouse both as "mouse"; had hoped I could set things up device by device. Otherwise a very nice find (+1, etc).
