comment How do I diagnose a slow login?
@ProBackup What confirmed it being a USER file issue and not a SYSTEM file issue was the fact that upon the creation of a new user, the log in issue was no more. When troubleshooting any issues with OSX, the first step should always be to establish whether it is a User or System based problem. Creating a new user and trying to replicate the issue under that new user is always the best way to do so.

comment Why can I boot into the recovery partition without entering a password even though I have FileVault 2 with full-disk-encryption enabled?
You're welcome :)

In truth though, I would expect most users would enable Firevault and be happy with knowing their data is secure and never ever see or use the built in Recovery Partition. So Apple explaining the technicalities of FireVault and Partitions would be TMI for most.

It is slightly misleading, but most users don't understand the concept of partitions and volumes so it would be easier for Apple to advertise this feature in the simplest of ways as possible. Being an IT Manager, I have lots of hands on experience with this reality ;)

comment Can the iCloud apps backup of an iPhone be restored to a different iPhone?
With that being said, you do not have control over what data gets restored. It's an all or nothing process. You either restore all data to a new/replacement device or you do not restore anything at all.

You can restore any backup to any phone. It does not need to have the same name. Whenever you get a brand new iPhone, or replacement iPhone, or simply restore your current phone to factory, during the initial setup you are given to the option to "Set up as a new phone" or "Restore from itunes/icloud backup". The backup does not care what model phone it is ever.

comment How to change speed of podcast playback on iPad running iOS 5's Music app?
Got it. Well I cannot recall having this issue prior to iOS 5.1 but all internet searches prove otherwise so I'm going to assume that I have been mistaken and suffering from blurred memory; so my bad on that. Ultimately, it seems there is no solution available for you outside of updating to iOS 5.1 or downgrading to iOS 4.3.3

iOS 5.1 has a jailbreak. Here's a link to tutorials on how to do so. This link will show you all the tutorials covering the different iPad generations and computer OSes. You select the tutorial that would apply to your setup. I can only assume something odd happened when you installed your your jailbroken image of iOS 5.0.1 that may have caused this odd behavior. The speed playback feature has never been removed from any version of iOS for iPad or iPhone since it's introduction. So you're only option at this point is to restore your iPad with a new jailbroken iOS 5.1 image.

Also just to clarify, was the Media Kind already set or did you just update them? If you just updated them, it will not take effect on your iPad until your next synch.

Any reason why you are not running iOS 5.1?
