I am a high school senior in New York, studying lots of interesting stuff including Comp Sci and music and math. I play the trumpet, flugelhorn, bass, and guitar. Do you have enough free space on your primary HD to allow for fast access to the swap? Have you tried running top?

To me it seems the easiest method; I know you can't (unfortunately) fix the Lion version. And as for a true alternative, it might not fit your needs but how about just using Google Calendar?
