comment How do I find the windowid of Google Chrome to pass to screencapture -l
About the only downside is that you likely will want to convert the .tiff screenshots to something more compact like .png which is easy with the build in sips. sips -s format png Path/To/Image.tiff --out Path/To/ConvertedImage.png which actually results in a single copy/convert step.

comment is there a way to create an AFP link to point to any user's home directory?
Don't tell users to click on random executable attachments. It's better to educate them on where to find their files.

comment Is it possible to configure OS X to use the domain-name supplied by DHCP option 15?
OS X get's it hostnames from DNS, not from DHCP. If you want to assign proper hostnames, you need to make A/AAAA/PTR entries resolve.

comment How to disable microphone for OS X?
Sound routing is a user setting, so you cannot keep user's from switching it. You might be able to do that via parental controls, haven't checked that. If you're in a very high security environment you're better off disconnecting the internal mics in hardware. That still leaves the possibility to connect an external mic.

Does ist explicitly have to be the Chrome window, or do you actually just need the webpage you're visiting to an image? (Given Webkit rendering.)

comment Hide/Remove a Key from Keychain Access
Just out of curiosity: What's the point in trying to keep the WiFi password from being seen by students? One will eventually find out and spread it. (Technically I seconds bmike's suggestion. My own experience says “Don't try to fight your users, you'll loose.”.)

comment Internet Sharing on Mac via LAN
No, I actually meant removing the interface from the System Preferences > Network > Interfaces list on the left. Had I meant to unplug/replug the cable I would have said so.

How is your WiFi connection configured? Have you tried removing the Ethernet interface from the list of network devices and readding it?

comment Do I have malware? Mysterious connection made by app
It would really help to name the app. For example many Twitter Clients will request website URLs to see if they need to unwrap shortened-URLs like t.co or bit.ly so they can display the full domain to the user. This will, of course, show a request to said domain in LittleSnitch. Also, you don't give any details on which port/protocol was accessed. (Seems you tried 80/tcp aka http already.)

comment QuickTime taking control over AVCHD content?
You can still do a secondary-click (right-click or two-finger-click) on the package and select “show package contents” from the contextual menu to access.
