comment iPhone Facebook integration overrides local contact names
The problem persisted all through iOS 7 and is still present on iOS 8. Interestingly, the displayed name is only incorrect on iOS—not on iCloud.com or on OS X when the same (synchronised) contacts are shown.

comment How do I make iTunes sync automatically when an iPhone, iPad or iPod is connected?
The poor UX of this option has been updated by the look of things in iTunes 11.2, as the option is now called "Automatically sync when this <device type> is connected".

comment Simplest way to prevent iTunes from automatically launching when iPhone/iPad is connected
This option seems to have changed in iTunes 11.2. There's now "Automatically sync when this iPad is connected" (or 'iPhone'). Disabling that option prevents auto-sync even when iTunes is manually opened, so the login item removal seems the most appropriate if you wish to retain that functionality.
