comment Circuit Simulator for iPad
If you want to get an idea of what it can (and cannot) do, it's based/inspired heavily on the Falstac Circuit Simulator Java Applet, which is free online here: falstad.com/circuit The two pieces of software are very similar in look and in the simulated devices (iCircuit has a slightly better schematic editor, though, ans it had to be refined to make it work with the touch controls).

I have iCircuit, and for what it is, it's excellent. I's certainly not a full-blown SPICE replacement, but for sketching out simple ideas, it works very well.

comment Are there any free alternatives to finder?
It's also java based, so performance is.... mediocre.

I can't see any reason this should not be possible. I can check the toner levels on my networked 1998 HP laserjet.

comment How do I add an Apple TV to hotel wifi without a browser?
I actually don't think it's possible to spoof a different MAC address, at least on an unjailbroken iOS device.

comment How do I use pf/IceFloor to block an outgoing connection to an IP address?
You may be able to setup a dead preferred route for the IP (random thought). see man route. make all connections to the specific IP try to route through the lo interface.

Do you mean PROM? EPROM stands for Erasable Programable Read-Only Memory

comment Differentiating Apple products by their MAC addresses
@Christian - If they're not a reliable identifier, you can't distinguish Apple products using them, as they can be changed. So no, apparently you don't understand that. It may be possible most of the time, but if the MAC has been changed, it is no longer possible.

comment What are Photogrammetry softwares available on Mac OS X
I'm pretty sure the market is too small for anyone to bother supporting OS X. Try installing windows.

comment Any way to put Mac mini to sleep remotely?
Look at the RowMote store page description - SLEEP AND WAKE: Put your Mac to sleep by holding the Play button for 3 seconds while controlling any Apple application, just like the hardware remote.

This will only work if people are not spoofing their MAC addresses. If they are, you may either get false positives or false negatives, depending on who is doing what.

comment How can I disable pop-unders when using Chrome?
Have you tried a general-purpose ad-blocker? I use AdBlockPlus for chrome and can't remember seeing any pop-unders, though I don't browse to sites that might have them very much.

@gentmatt - If "a little space" is ~20 GB, then you are correct. The initial backup will be the size of a complete install of OS X.

comment How do I find how much disk space a program is occupying?
Ah, it's: du -h -d 1 on mac. Freaking Cent-OS. I guess that's what I get for assuming there is some consistency in the GNU coreutils.

hmmm. I tried it on linux, assuming they hadn't messed with it too much. I know there is a way to do it on a mac (because I've used it on a mac). Hold on.
