comment Is there a Mac utility to create an executable Zip/archive?
And yes, it has all the security issues of running any executable file. The fact that it chain-uncompress-and-loads another executable is irrelevant.

The exe-zip files created by 7-zip do indeed just unpack the files in the compressed archive. However, they also have the opton to automatically run one of the files that were just unpacked. So while you are kind of correct, there is more functionality there then you allude to.

comment The iPhone is over 3 times more expensive than the iPod touch, how much more margin is Apple doing on the iPhone?
I would argue that showing the subsidized cost at all is useless. I would bet the phone companies would be completely happy to subsidize people buying a iPod touch, if they thought they could get away with it.

Basically ~$100 in components, and the rest went into marketing.

You seem to be confusing the subsidized price with the actual price of the phone.

Your numbers are really, REALLY wrong. The iPhone 4S 16GB is $649 in the US. The margin is therefore $461! You have it noted as $11...

comment Circuit Simulator for iPad
If you want to get an idea of what it can (and cannot) do, it's based/inspired heavily on the Falstac Circuit Simulator Java Applet, which is free online here: falstad.com/circuit The two pieces of software are very similar in look and in the simulated devices (iCircuit has a slightly better schematic editor, though, ans it had to be refined to make it work with the touch controls).

I have iCircuit, and for what it is, it's excellent. I's certainly not a full-blown SPICE replacement, but for sketching out simple ideas, it works very well.

I can't see any reason this should not be possible. I can check the toner levels on my networked 1998 HP laserjet.

comment How do I add an Apple TV to hotel wifi without a browser?
I actually don't think it's possible to spoof a different MAC address, at least on an unjailbroken iOS device.

comment How do I use pf/IceFloor to block an outgoing connection to an IP address?
You may be able to setup a dead preferred route for the IP (random thought). see man route. make all connections to the specific IP try to route through the lo interface.

comment Differentiating Apple products by their MAC addresses
@Christian - If they're not a reliable identifier, you can't distinguish Apple products using them, as they can be changed. So no, apparently you don't understand that. It may be possible most of the time, but if the MAC has been changed, it is no longer possible.

comment What are Photogrammetry softwares available on Mac OS X
I'm pretty sure the market is too small for anyone to bother supporting OS X. Try installing windows.

comment Any way to put Mac mini to sleep remotely?
Look at the RowMote store page description - SLEEP AND WAKE: Put your Mac to sleep by holding the Play button for 3 seconds while controlling any Apple application, just like the hardware remote.
