comment SD CARD saying read only after I tried to delete files from the card
Are you sure you didn't bump the "read only" switch on the SD card when you were handling them/inserting them into the laptop? I know I've done that myself.

comment How can I create a new Recovery Partition on EXTERNAL disk?
If you are trying to do this to a disk with data on it, it may not be possible, as you cannot move the start of a HFS partition. It depends on whether the recovery partition has to be physically before the data partition or not.

comment Your computer can't be shut down now, because software is being installed
@grprado - I do it pretty regularly (ever week or so. My mac crashes more then my PC!), and have not had any problems yet.

comment Turning off hibernate on a MacBook Pro with an SSD
Note that "continuous use" could also be continuous random-reads, which would not affect the device's lifetime much, if at all.

@duci9y - Then change "Continuous use" to say "continuous writes". As it is, it's only an extremely contorted interpretation that you can make it say that.

comment Turning off hibernate on a MacBook Pro with an SSD
@alexy13 - It's my understanding that the sleepimage is compressed before being written to disk. I would also bet that anything residing in wired memory is evicted from memory before the sleep image is taken.

comment Turning off hibernate on a MacBook Pro with an SSD
The time the drive has been powered is totally irrelevant. It's the volume of data that has been written to the drive that affects a SSD's lifetime. -1

comment Is there an alternative to downloading Lion from the net?
@XAleXOwnZX - I would imagine that the MAC store would sell hardware addresses for network interfaces.

comment Time Machine Drive Failure
rsync will not properly handle the symbolic links, even with the proper flags (--preserve-hard-links --links). I tried to copy my time-machine backups using rsync at one point, and my 500GB backup wound up filling a 2TB hard drive before rsync gave up.

comment Qt Creator for Mac
You're seeing nokia because nokia owns the Qt trademarks, and is largely the driving force behind it's development.
