How can I toggle internet sharing from the command line? Yep, duplicate, which I'd missed. Interesting that the tags between this post and the other are totally different. |

Is there any potential problem with disabling core dumps? Reassuring, thanks - and had just come across another reference to sensitive data insecurity with dumps! Disabled it is. |

Is it possible to trigger a script when drive is ejected from the Finder? There is a hack to let you do something like this - renaming umount and creating a new umount script that removes dotfiles and then calling the old umount. Will give this a try anyway. |

How to not allow other people to access your mac? +1 - To this I'd add: make sure SSH access is turned off - in the 'sharing' tab, ensure 'remote login' is not selected. For that matter, you can turn off all the sharing options there to make SURE no-one has access. |

Is it possible to trigger a script when drive is ejected from the Finder? It would run BEFORE the drive ejects ... when the Finder starts the process of unmounting it. Presumably there is a way of running a script before umount runs. |

Hosts file in OSX Lion not blocking as expected Hi @Abhi Beckert - apologies, there's a long comment thread above where we got a solution (non-unix hosts file format) but it wasn't put in as an answer yet. Thanks though! |

Hosts file in OSX Lion not blocking as expected @Garry - looks like this thread still shows as open; as your suggestion re unix format of the hosts file was correct, maybe make it an answer so's I can upvote it? Thanks! |

Hosts file in OSX Lion not blocking as expected @cksum / @Garry / @CajunLuke / @TJLuoma - thanks for all the advice and yep, looks like I was misled by other debates about this including this Apple SE post. Rewriting my hosts file (ensuring ASCII english text in response to file hosts) means usual behaviour has been restored ... |

Hosts file in OSX Lion not blocking as expected Yes, I tried www.0fees.net (and several other blocked domains in the list) and they're not blocked. Also, in Lion all additional entries to the HOSTS file must be above the fe80::1%lo0 localhostline. |
